mtDNA and Lizzie F Jordon 1870 AL

My maternal grandmother's mother is a "mystery woman:" Lizzie (Elizabeth) F. Jordon 26 Jun 1870 (or 1869) is on the 1900 Jones Co. census under surname Robinson (should be Robertson) as b AL. Since we have no other information on her, I resorted to mitochondrial DNA testing with both Family Tree DNA and Sorenson Molecular Genetics Foundation to locate matches, hoping someone could make a link.

This week I got some more matches on the mtDNA at SMGF. Here are the most distant female ancestors listed:

Mary Molly Bounds 1863 Purvis, MS who married William Thomas Gibson 1860 MS
She is probably the same as Mary E Bounds daughter of Elizabeth Mason 1839 MS and John Clark Bounds 1836 MS

Elizabeth Bounds 1853 Hancock Co., MS m James David Mitchell 1852 MS

Martha Jane Gilstrap 1848 GA m William H Brown 1853 GA.
I assume she is the Martha Jane Gillstrap on the 1860 Pulaski Co. GA census, with parents James 46 GA Fisherman and Mary 33 GA.

Louisa Catherine Rasnake 1864 Russell Co. VA m Peter Ritsey Smith 1860 VA.
Reportedly she was the daughter of Nancy Jane Breeding 1847 VA and James Harvey Rasnake 1844 VA.
Nancy Jane Breeding was reportedly the daughter of George Breeding 1803 VA and Caroline Sutherland 1810 VA
Caroline Sutherland 1810 VA was reportedly the daughter of Henry Sutherland 1782 VA and Agnes LaForce 1785 VA

Margaret Elizabeth Earle (Early) 1855 Berry Co., KY m Levi Crouch 1851 KY

If anyone has information that would link these female lines, I would really appreciate your letting me know.

The names Ethel, Mollie, Mary, Otis(short "o"), appear to be family names in his family. He came down through Virginia to MS,then to southern MS (present day Copiah County), thence to Rapides and Grant Parishes in Louisiana. Could there be connections?

John Jordan came to the US in 1907 and was Nat. 1917, he was 32 years old, he is listed as being born in Ireland as well the parents.

Ellen is listed as 27 years old, came to the US in 1910, and Nat. 1917. Living with them is a daughter Mary, age 4 1/2 years old born in MA and a daughter Elenor, age 3 born in MA.

What caught my eyes that Daniel Ahern, age 27, is listed as John Jordan brother in law was living with them.

Daniel is the son from Patrick Ahern and Bridget Sullivan.
JORDON/JORDAN/SHADWICK/HALE

I am searching for information on the Jordon/Shadwick/Hale lines in my family. Here is some of the info I have:

Cisero (also spelled: Cicero; as well as Sirus & Cyrus on 1880 AR census') Jordan...married Mary E. Shadwick. Cisero was born in 1826, in TN and died in 1916 and is buried at Buffington Cemetery in Sallisaw. I do not know where Mary is buried.

The Shadwick line, through Mary, is her mother: Catharine Miller, b. abt. 1810 in TN and her father: Hardy Shadwick, b. in TN.

Specifically, my search is centered around Cisero & Mary's last child.......Thomas (Tom) Jordan. Thomas married Leona (Hale) Downing, it was her second marriage. They had two sons together, Rufus Cicero Jordon, my husbands grandfather, b. in 1910 and died in 1958; and his brother, Albert Jordon, b. 1913 and d. in 1983. Rufus had 3 half-brothers: 2 Downings and 1 Womack? Don't know how that name got in there.

However, Thomas had a brother named Benjamin Franklin Jordan, b. 1874; and twin siblings-boy & girl named George Washington Jordan and Mary Cathrine Jordan, born 1-21-1878. George is buried at Short Cem. in LeFlore county.

Any information about Tom would be tremendously helpful! Thanks so much...Debbie
Eveline
Sorry -- don't have this family on my records. For future reference, what time frame are you looking at and where were they born.

Carol

Eveline
Thanks for the additional info -- my Jordon are in New Brunwick having come from Yorkshire, England. MOses married Margaret Beach on 15 Jul 1828 in Kings Co., NB. Some of their children went to the USA -- Oregon and I'm not sure where else.
Good luck with your research,
Carol
