Seeking Bonnie Mae for Joslin photo McBirde collection

My great grandmother was Willie Joslin, married to John Parsons Allen. Billie's sister, Ina, was married to William Hart. They lived in Upshur county. I recently ran across a short story about this family under the title of McBirde's collection of family memories. In this story, it says that Bonnie Mae has a photograph of one of Billie's little girls: "Bonnie has a picture of one of these girls at her graduation and said the dress she has on is the most beautiful dress you could ever wont to see".. this photo is either my grandmother or her sister. I would very much like a copy. Please contact me if you know how I can get one. Thank you!

Pat, You do have the correct names, however I can not provide primary source info. I have a copy of a 1851 census for Windham Twp., Norfolk Co., Ontario in which is listed John Josselin (age 37) with wife Hannah (32), daughter Jerusha(16),son George (14), Elijah (9), Charleton (2) and Charles (2).
John was born in New Brunswick and Hannah was born in Upper Canada (Ontario) as well as the children.
Some years ago a gentleman in Kansas City was doing a newsletter called the "Bacon - Joslyn Treeclimber". My mother had all of the issues he put out and in one of the issues he provided a parental chart for Hannah Wilkins. I have never seen the primary info for it, but he later provided the text of a letter from Edith Wessler that supported his listing. Edith was the author of the 1960 book "The Jocelyn - Joslin - Joslyn - Josselyn Family" which has been a foundation for most of the American/Canadian Joslin research.
The listing for Hannah is as follows: Hannah Wilkens, b. 3 Sep 1820, Hannah's father is Thomas Wilkins, b. 1782, and mother is Jerusha (Josie) Churchill. Thomas Wilkins father is George Wilkins b. abt 1750 and G-father is Peter Wilkins b. abt 1710. Josie Churchill was the daughter of an English seaman, Churchill and Betty Foster, dates unknown.
Hope this helps
My GGF George Henry Joslin (1832/1924), son of Benjamin and Samantha (Holden) Joslin, married my GGM Marcia J PROPER (1835/1870). They were married (1853) in NY. Three of their 8 children: Eldorus D.C. (1856 – my GF), Nellie F. (1860) and Charles F (1869), lived ‘til adulthood. After Marcia’s death,in 1870(?), George married Melissa Deming - in Buffalo, NY. Shortly after their marriage - in 1870 - George and Melissa, along with his 3 children, moved to MI. I am trying to determine the dates of: 1) George/Marcia’s wedding, 2) Date of Marcia’s death, 3) Place of Marcia’s death and 4) Place of Marcia’s burial.

I have information that George and Marcia lived in Royalton, Niagara Co., NY in 1869 and Ashford Twp, Cattaraugus Co., NY in 1856

I suspect your Dodge line goes back to Robert and Mercy Atwell Dodge. They lived in Crawford Co. PA in the 1820's. They had a daughter Lydia who married George Upham in 1845.George and Lydia had the following children: Mary, Roxa, George C. John N. Ellie G. Amos T. Hattie.

I'm related to Mercy Atwell. She was first married to Joseph Thayer (my line) in Chautauqua Co. NY. Thayer died in 1808 and Mercy then married Robert Dodge. I've traced them to Union Co. OH and then to Crawford Co. PA. I have a lot of information that I'm willing to share.

Hi! We are related. I've been to the Joslin gravesites in Holly. Daniel Joslin and Martha Jenks had many children born in NY who all came to Michigan abt 1840.

Which child are you a descendant of? Noah? America? Ther was also a John Jenks Joslin and Daniel R Joslin. I have all their documentation as far as family info from the county and census. Have been all over the state and they spread out a little.

Do you have family buried in Holly? I was there a few weeks ago and the county has that Daniel Joslin Sr was buried there in 1862, but the family has put in more gravesites and tombstones and his spot has been used.

Please email me to compare notes at swellin410@aol.com

Thanks! The had their children in the early 1800's and everybody moved to Michigan.

Are you related to this group?
I read your long post on the Joslins from September 2007. I am a Kinney researcher, and you mentioned that Sarah Joslin married Jacob Kinney in Knox County. I descend from Jacob's brother David, who was also in Knox County. Jacob and Sarah went to Shelby Co IN in the 1830's with Jacob's parents. Jacob's father died there, and his mother returned to Knox County. Jacob died in Shelby Co in 1868 and Sarah is shown there in the 1870 census. I'd happily send you anything I have on this family if you would find it helpful.

John Laird - JohnLaird9@aol.com

The info I have says Joseph Joslin married Jemima Gratton in Oneida Co.NY in Mar. 1807. Both Jemima and Joseph were from MA.I think Jemimas' father was Crary Gratton and he aquired property in Darien, Genesee Co.NY through his Rev. War service.Jemima was born 10 Apr. 1788.Joseph may have come from Pembroke MA. and he was born in the 1780s.After living in Genesee Co. for awhile the Joslins moved to Machias, Cattaraugus Co. NY where they farmed. In 1842 Joseph Joslin died and great hardship came to the family. The children were split up and farmed out to relatives and neighbors. Joseph is buried at the Brewer cemetery, just outside of Machias.-------------Terry

Christopher:

Hadn't corresponded with you in a long while, but had recent good news. My maternal uncle (our eldest living male Joslin) agreed to submit a DNA test. We've had some good matches reported, one of which ties us to the William Joslin of Deerfield, Cumberland County, NJ (1701-1771) line. The other good match ties our line to an English Joslin whose published tree does not include our Thomas Joslin (the Immigrant) who, with wife Rebecca Marlowe Joslin, children and servants climbed aboard that good ship Increase for Massachusetts Bay in 1634 (some say arrived 1635). Undoubtedly, that means we are cousins of some level of firsts, seconds or however times removed. If you're still on this board, please write me at me personal email, mecohenour@aol.com so that we may discuss further. I'd so like to pin my line to the proper son before I get too old and forgetful to enjoy the accomplishment!

Thank you, sincerely.
Melinda
