Do you have the original picture? I don't but it was published in the Minocqua paper awhile back and I do have a copy of the paper.

I do have some information I can share with you on the remaining Jossarts that you don't have. I went to Belgium and stayed with Willie Hannon and his wife a few years ago.
Willie's Great-greatmother and Dick's Great-grandfather were sister and brother. It was a nice experience! Talk to you soon.

I'd love to share research with you.

My grandmothers grandfather (Louis Joseph Jossart ) was Ferdinand Jossarts brother. I'm trying to gather as much information as I can on the descendants of Louis Joseph Jossart & Marie Catherine Hannon (Ferdinands parents). I have a bit of info on Louis Joseph, Marie Therese, Marie Barbe and Ferdinand - and their descendants, but don't have much on the remaining children (Jean Phillipe, Joseph David or Valentin?).

There's a book titled "The History Of Door County" recounting the story of the 10 original Belgian families that came over in 1853 and their story. I can email it to you - it mentions Louis Joseph Jossart (sr.) as well as our Hannon and DeTienne ancestors.

As for whom is in the photo "Jossart Clan":
Standing: Prosper, David D., Jule E, Silas Aaron and Louis John (Married Ruth Mae Mapes). Seated: Elsie, Anna Ester (Married George Lincoln Mapes), Louise and Priscilla. Louis John Jossart and his sister Anna Ester Jossart, married George Lincoln Mapes and his sister Ruth Mae Mapes in a double ceremony.

BTW- I just received a box of photos, notes and other research that the eldest Jossart family (Josephine Lucile Jossart[Hurst] - Louis John Jossarts daughter) member had been researching since the early 1950's. I'll be sharing this and adding it to the tree in the coming months. It's lot's and lot's of very old photos and research!

Just viewed your photos from Minocqua WI on the Mapes Family. My husband’s grandfather was Urban Jossart, son of Ferdinand. I’m interested in sharing what I have on the Mapes family and of course what I have on the Jossart family. Please contact me and we can discuss what we have. There was a photo titled Jossart clan with 5 men standing behind 4 women. I believe I can identify some of those people.

Minocqua Museum - Mapes Family Exhibit

Hey Jossarts,
There was recently an exhibit at the Minocqua Museum in Minocqua, WI on the history of the Mapes family. The Mapes family has close ties to the Jossarts through several marriages over the years.

Donald Janssen who works for the Museum was kind enough to send me a DVD with all of the photos that were posted at the exhibit. I made a gallery that you can visit at: http://gallery.mac.com/jasunone#100072

My grandmother's maiden name was Jossart and she was from Minocqua, WI. Her father was Daniel Jossart.

My grandmother was Jeanne Jossart. Her father was Daniel Jossart from Minocqua in Oneida County.

I noted your response to my query. I have little information on the Jossart family beginning with Louis Joseph Jossart and some of the descendants lines. The information that I have collected is currently in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet format. Are you able to open and view Excel documents? If so, I can send you a copy of the spreadsheet. Ther is an article in today's Lakeland Times paper that outlines part of the Jossart family history. It speaks of the family members you are asking about. Try lakelandtimes.com in Wisconsin. Google it and you should find the paper.

Hi. I am a direct descendant of the Jossarts and my Grandmother informed me there is a book in the Madison, WI. library with a book about the family under the Mapes' last name. Let me know if I can help you with anything because I have found some things on the family.

I am searching for Pierre Jossart born 1797 in Belgium. Came over on the Gazelle in 1855 to Robinsonville, WI. Son is Jean Joseph (which there are many Jeans!) Would like any information about Pierre or descendents.

Grandmother was Anna Jossart. We are in process of following the family to Belgium where they began.

I have accumulated some information from several Jossart descendants and would be willing to share that information. My gr-gr grandmother was born Marie Therese Jossart in Belgium, 1828 and died near Sherburn, Martin co., MN, 1910. She was married to Etienne Detienne 1849 in Belgium and emigrated to American in 1853.
