Mary and Edward are my great-great grandparents as well.
They also had a son Frederick (my great grand father) in addition to clarence and daughters Stella, Caroline and Florence. this info was found on 1880 census record. According to my father, Florence moved to California.
Edward was both a mule skinner and walked the Errie Canal as well as a stone mason and worked on the restoration of Fort Ticonderroga.Edward had a number of siblings, one being Morton the WW1 hero.
Fredrick was a carpenter and had an only child, my granfather, Robert Edward Joubert.

I have info on Mary Lyons who married Joseph Joubert. Her family came from Canada when she was an infant. The family settled at Fond du lac in 1852. She married Joseph Joubert when she was eighteen. They had ten children. My info comes from the 1870 census of Wisconsin, Deer Creek in Outagamie County. I also have an old newspaper clipping titled Surprise Party for Mary Joubert that has lots of family history in it. My grandmother wrote April 6, 1936 at the top of the article. If you want a copy of this article let me know. Hope this helps you.

Re: Zebulon Joubert of Glens Falls N.Y.

Hi Bob,
I think that I have some information for you but first I must say that Eileen did some awsome research for you regarding Zebulon and the Joubert family name. If in 2009 I still have to spell my family name(Joubert) when I am asked to identify myself can you imagine all the little mistakes that have been made throught the years when people are writing family names for other individuals that don't know how to write, spell and read. I was asked again today to spell my name for someone.

I would like to hear from you where you came across Joseph and Claire's name. I have a fair amount of Canadian information on the Joubert family name. Especially the ones that lived in the province of Québec. Joseph and Claire Mailloux are in my database with their kids. One of Joseph's children is Eusèbe born in 1818 and he married Louise-Stéphanie Robillard. In the parish record book she signed her name as "Fanny Robillard". It says that Eusèbe is a business man of Glenn Falls. Interesting eh!! I loose track of both Eusebe and Edouard after those entries in the parish register. Since there was more work in the State than in Quebec around that time it makes sense that they would have gone to the State to work. They lived beside the Richelieu river that connects to Lake Champlain that brings you to New York so it should have been pretty easy for them to work their way down to Glenn Falls.

Here is my e-mail address in case that you are interested in exchanging information. I have a copy of their marriage registry at the parish.

Dan Joubert
danjoubert@hotmail.com

Searching the family tree and find that Zebulon (not his original French name) was a gg-granfather. I beleive he was born in Qubec about 1817. I also think his father was Joseph Joubert and his mother was Claire Mailloux. He married Fannie Louisa Robilard, her parents were Levi Robilard and Johanna ??. They had the following children: Joseph born about 1850, Fanny born about 1850, Eddie born about 1853, Louisa born about 1853, Andrew born about 1855, Malissa born about 1857, John born about 1858, Minnie born about 1860 and Melvina born about 1865.

Any further information would be greatly appreciated.

Bob

This was in the 1970s. She lived with Miss French (also a teacher) in a cute gray Victorian era house across from the courthouse. If she left a will, court records in Yuba County courthouse probably would list next of kin. Yes, the high school gym is named for her!

In doing so I saw your post about Francois Joubert being married to Archange Boucher.

Well here is hoping we have a connection.

Can you tell me if Archange father's given name was Vincent and was Francois father's given name Joseph?

I have eleven children for Francis & Mary but I don't show an Isidore also my Mary would be to young if she were born 1829.

Have a Great Day,
Madonna

I too have a great grandmother named Marie Blanche Joubert. She married a Moise LaFleur in LA, some time around 1900 +/-. Does your grandmother have any sisters that were named Marie Blanche? I think Marie Blanche's father may have been Gabriel Joubert who married Athenaise LaFleur. Gabriel's parents were Evareste Joubert and Elizabeth Stagg. Evariste's parents were Pierre dit Bal Rose Joubert and Catherine Cartier. that is as far back as I know. I am certain of Gabriel Joubert on back. I know he and Athenaise had a Marie Blanche but I haven't been able to cross reference her and my Marie Blanche. They are likely the very same, but I want to cross reference to make sure. Contact me at lafleurpaul@co.kane.il.us if you want.

JOUBERT or JONBERT in Glen Falls NY?

I am looking for info on my gggrandmother. I have a US census for 1900 and a New York directory for 1891/1892 that shows her as Fannie L JONBERT. Is it possible that JOUBERT was either changed or mis written? Should it really be JOUBERT instead of JONBERT? The 1900 census shows her granddaughter (my grandmother) Beatrice CARTER living with her. I have seen both spellings of the last name in the Glen Falls NY area. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Bob
Hello
I think that Zebulon is in my fathers mother line from what I have seen. My father mothers maiden name was Frances Beatrice CARTER. The 19-- census show her, at age 11, living with a younger sister Genevie age 4, and her maternal grandmother Fanni L Jonbert in Glen Falls New York. I have seen the last name as JONBERT, JOUBERT and JUBERT. Thatcensus says Fanni L was born in Canada and crossed the border in 1840 with her birth in Canada in 1831. I have heard that this Fanni was married to Zebulon, but I dont really have any proof. I have no information on her daughter, my ggrandmother, or Willioam CARTER, my ggrandfather. If this fits in your search, any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Bob

I am researching my fathers line and am hitting a block. I have found my grandmother in the 1900 census, Francis Beatrice CARTER. She is 11 years old at the census time. She is living with her sister,Genivie CARTER age 4, and her maternal grandmother fannie L. JONBERT in Glens Falls New York. On my grandmothers death dertificate a William CARTER is listed as her father and Unknown JONBERT is listed as her mother.I have seen some documentation with the last name of JONBERT, JOUBERT and JUBERT used. Nothing though really ties any together. If this fits anyone's research I would really like to hear.

Thanks

Bob

I do not have much info on the Joubert family. The info I have that is certain is my grandmother was Renetta Jubert b. in the 1920's. She married and divorced Ronbert Cote of Mass.. Their children include Theresa (my mom), Carol, Bobby, MAry, and Barbara. Since that marriage, Renetta has had one more child, Scott Leonard, with second husband Irving Leonard. Renetta past away in 2004.
Siblings of Renetta include 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
One sister died at birth or shortly after. Leaving Izer Jubert, Austin Jubert, Helena Jubert-?, and Rena Jubert-Lacey.
Hopefully this is familiar to you or someone out there and can help me out.
Thanks again, Dave

from Schubert to Joubert

My great-grand mother was born Victorine Joubert. That's what I thought.

When I found her marriage listed by the mormon as:
Victoria SCHUBERT married 6 DEC 1884 in Philadelphia, I was not too surprised:

her birth place, my great-grand father name and birth place were badly mangled.

Then, a relative in France found her family - and that was a BIG surprise:
she was born Victorine Schubert 30 JUN 1864 in France.
Her sister Marie was born Schubert , but their younger siblings were born Joubert.

Their father was born near Germany, and even though he had moved away from there by the time he was married, he decided to change his name and his daughters' names, not to be confused with a German. [around 1882]

The weird part:

after 1872, Victorine was now officialy named "Joubert", BUT:

a letter from a lawyer dated from 1883 is addressed to "Melle Victorine Schubert" .
Then in 1884, she apparently got married under the name Schubert.

This may give a clue to some people looking for Joubert in France: you may want to look for Schubert/Schuber
After many years of research, I now know where my great-grand mother came from. I just knew she came from France in 1882.

I just found out that the Departemental Archives of Haute Marne are partially on line (more to come soon).
Here is what they had:

__ born in Varenne sur Amance, Haute-Marne

30/06/1864 Victorine Joubert

11/04/1868 Auguste Joubert

14/07/1871 Marie Augustine Joubert

20/08/1880 Jeanne Augustine Joubert

__ died in Varenne sur Amance:

19/08/1883 Pierre Joubert [may be the father]

I know that 2 sisters came to the States:

__ Victorine [married Numa Bourquin in Philadelphia, PA] and
__ Marie Augustine [married Thomas Bracken, lived in Cheltenham, Montgomery Co, PA]

Are any of these names familiar ? especially Auguste and Jeanne Augustine Joubert ?

Thanks in advance

i have recently discovered my great grandmother, vida putnam was born to maggie jubert (probably a misspelling or it was changed) and george putnam on nov 6, 1900 in green bay, wisconsin. not sure if maggie is short for something or it is her full name. george and maggie married on oct 31, 1898 in wisconsin. i believe they also had a son named arnold born approximately 1916. he allegedly did time at waupun prison in wisconsin and may have died there also, but i have no evidence yet.

vida eventually married john pavlik and had several children in the milwaukee area. in 1930 arnold was living with vida and john at the age of 14. wonder what happened to maggie and george.

i keep hitting walls with this line. any help is appreciated. contact me at duschl@mac.com

Lesta Joubert of Camptonville and Sacramento, CA

Although I am not related to Lesta, she was apparently a close friend to my grandmother, Helen Louise Jackson. I believe Lesta was born/raised in Camptonville (probably where they met as my grandmother taught school there in the early 30s) around 1910 or so. I have many photographs of Lesta from the 1930's including many of her taking a cruise with my grandmother and her parents, to Alaska in 1935 (rather uncommon at that time). I would like to hand down the many wonderful photographs of Lesta to a direct relative rather than have them remain in my albums rarely viewed.

I believe Lesta did not marry and died in Sacramento, CA. Lesta is buried in Camptonville, CA and I believe there is a sport center named after her in Marysville, CA. However, I have been unsuccessful in finding any relatives, thus far, thus my posting. I am happy to share what I have with those interested.
