Hi, My Ggrandmother was Belle Jude (Bn)1875. Md.to Wm.Elliott Roberts. Belles parents were John and Martha Jude. Could it be the same. Have more info. I am related through her dtr. Louise Roberts Staten.

Does anyone share this ancestor? George Jude was a member of the Continental Army at Valley Forge with George Washington, according to the Alabama Sons of American Revolution. He came to Madison County, AL when it was still a territory. I would like to know where he came from and anything about his family, including his wife's correct name: Watson or Walton?

Henderson was my mom's uncle. Mom is Ruby Jean, daughter of John, Henderson's brother. I will ask mom if she has any pics or memories to share with you.

Sarah was my great grandmother. I had heard my grandmother, Mornine, Jack;s sister, tell about her mother "catching babies" as she called it.

Larry Davis here. I spent a lot of time at your grandparents house when I was growing up. W. always referred to my grandmother as "Aunt Mornine" She was the daughter of David Jude and Sarah Fraley. I remember seeing Sarah. She lived to in her late 90's. I think her offical name was Morning but she always spelled it "Mornine". She was married to Sunny Triplett who was the son of Bunyan Triplett. Granny's siblings were Jack, John, Lewis, Sonny, Patty Bowles and Mary Duncan. They were all alive when I was a kid but Sonny died in a little house near the mouth of Peter Cave when I was a boy. She had a sister who died as a child from burns she sutained when her dress caught on fire from the open fire place.
My mother was Marie Triplett and my father was Winford Davis. Granny always told that there were three Fredrick boys who were the first Judes to come into that part of Ky. They swam the Ohio River somewhere and I believe I saw in a census that Granny's mother Sarah was from Indiana. Somewhere, I heard they were wanted by the law, not for a crime but because they had witnessed one so they changed their name to Jude, taking it from a book of the Bible. This is all handed down legend so I do not know how reliable it is. She said one of the boys almost drowned trying to swim the river but just as he gave up, they were on a sand bar. He rested and swam the rest of the way. My grandmother said she heard a story from her grandmother, who I believe was a Rutherford, that one of the Armies during the Civil War, she wasn't sure which one, had come to Three Forks to recruit the boys for the war and they hid in the hills to avoid being taken. Several years ago I saw a genalogy record somewhere that listed the Judes for seven generations back and gave the birthplace of the patriarch as Germany.

I'm also searching for any info on Melvina Jude.
She married a George Likens they had a daughter named Susie.
Susie would be my grt grandmother.I can't find Susie in the census.Except for when she was married to Elswick Maynard

My Grandmother, Rebecca Jude Crum had a brother named Harisson Jude. They grew up in Wayne County, West Virginia. Rebecca married Christopher Columbus Crum who was killed by man who mistook him for another Crum My Grandfather Christopher worked on the railroad.

Would be quite willing to share info.

Black Judes

Like most of you, I have come to realize that there are a lot more Judes out there than I thought!

Since the Judes typically came from England, France and a bit of Germany, it is predominantly a "white name." This name obviously passed down during the slave trade, so there are plenty of black Judes as well.

Since slaves had few rights, I have found that slave records are next to impossible to locate.

Anyone out there with any information on black Judes would be greatly helpful in my study. My grandfather was from Tipton Co., Tenn and died in Crittendon, Arkansas.

Hello , I think we may be related . I know a little about the Jude family . My last name is Jude , My father is from the peter cave area . His name is Arthur Jude , We did not get to meet many of our family members because we lived in michigan and did not see them very much at all . I have yet to meet anyone other than my father and brother with the last name Jude. My dad was a native of Saint Paul Minnesota (Willie Jude). Just hoping to find my long lost family. My grandfather was Levi Jude. My grandmother was Edner M. Simpkins.

The Jude's settled in Wright County, MN, (Maple Lake) in the mid-1850s or so -- not far from St. Paul, MN. You will find many Jude's listed in the Wright County records -- "pelam" listed a few of their names in response to your message. Jude's were farmers, ran hotels, dry good stores, started a candy/tobacco business, and were involved in local and state politics. There is also another Jude branch that settled in Kentucky.

It's been awhile since I've looked at my notes on the Jude's, but if I remember correctly, my research indicated that there was a brother of Richard B. (1816-1911) and Thomas (1820-1900) in Maine -- probably your gr.gr.grandfather, William. That name sounds right. I believe they lived in Ellsworth, Maine, as well as Bangor. Their mother was Catherine "Kate" Jude (1789-1879). The brothers were born in County Cork, Ireland. If you would like more information, send me your e-mail address and I'll contact you.

My mother is a Jude. Her father was the son of an english imagrate who moved to Aussie I think in the 1920s.
I was speaking to my mother last night and she lives in New Zealand and mentioned that they were the only Judes in NZ,I dont know if there is any conection but I thought it worth checking out

I had been misinformed it was my gr.gr.grandfather William whos brother Richard went to Minnesota while William stayed in Maine and he died at the age of 50.I would like to be able to have contact with you. My family name was Jude and the only Judes that I knew were my family I thought that we were the only ones. now they are nearly all gone.It was my gr.gr.grandfathers brother Richard that went to Minnesota.My gr.gr.grandfathers name was William he died at the age of 50. I am seeking information on the Jude family from Pike County, Kentucky. Only information I have is that a Melvina Jude born about 1860 and died in 1927 married a George Likens around 1875. I understand that Melvina's father was Jasper Jude born about 1825 who was married to a Mary Ellen McCoy. Any information on this line would be appreciated.
