some years ago i wrote to all the Junipers in North America.
i was born in england and my family emigrated to Canada in 1954. one branch of my family emigrated to Canada West in aabout 1842.
the first question to ask is are we talking about white or black junipers. and the second is are we talking about the united states or Canada. roughly, many of the junipers in the united states are black who didn't emigrate from Europe and are not related to the ones that did. other US Junipers had their names changed to Juniper at Ellis Island or other entry points (the Polish and Finnish ones). one juniper family in pennsylvania is descended from a baby left in a basket on Juniper street. and so on, lots of stories. in Canada the junipers almost all emigrated from england originating in the family groups from Essex or Sussex. myself im from the sussex group.

Hello. I am looking for information on Delores Juniper (Distelzweig) If you would happen to have any family photos I would appreciate it. She would actually be my Great Great Aunt. Her sister, Mary Distelzweig is my Great Grandmother who died back in the 60's. Mary Distelzweig married a Pavey and had my grandma Carole who is my moms mom. Any information you have would be great!!!!

Lynn - I believe you are talking about my family. My mom Suzanne Juniper was daughter of Theodore and Deloris Juniper she grew up in Columbus Ohio but had Juniper family in Nelsonville (right out side Athens Ohio). Are there still Junipers in that area? Many of her relatives have passed away including 3 of her 4 brothers and sisters. We currently live in Phoenix but I think it would be wonderful for her to reunite with some of her other extended family. Her last sibling is very sick and I think this would be a wonderful connection for her. I know she has 4 cousins Lindy, Sandy, Kitty and Shirley I only remember their mothers name Eileen Juniper... and some aunt Ducky... that grew up in the same area as her... let me know if you have any additional information ... she remains in contact with her cousins

Hi Lynn thanks for replying. I am trying to see if any of the families in america that are Junipers have any information on when they think their ancestors came went over to america. My great grandfather and my great great grandfather were both called Absolom. it is such an unusual name that is being repeated through the family in England. I have found out that there was an Absolom Juniper who fought for the Union army in the 90th infantry regiment for Ohio in 1826. i would like to see if i can find any connection. if you know of any other families in the US that have managed to trace back to England I would love to know. Thanks for your help I'll keep searching. There are alot of Junipers this side of the water if you ever want to trace this way.

I have not gone back on my father in laws family. My husband is one of 12 children of Harry Clyde Juniper and Grace Caroline Brown Juniper.Harry Clyde was born in 1889 in Ohio.He had at least one sister.I believe he was born in Athens County Ohio. There are other Junipers in Athens county now. We think they are distant relatives but are not sure. I can give you information on the 12 children if you would be interested. Harry Clyde(better known as Clyde) went on to marry another woman and had 5 more children.I will try to answer any questions you might have. Lynn

Hi julie
have been on a pilgrimage to Braintree and spent day in the record office at Chelmsford.
have got lots of info and it seems Absalom only married once in 1876 and he married Mary A. the records office think that there was a mistake in the transcribing on the census. have a copy of marriage entry. have managed to find of the family and his father and family. he was named after his grandfather who was an Absalom. the name seems to crop up all the way through the family. contact me if you want more information. maybe we could get together to compare nots if you live anywhere near me it seems we probaly are related along way down the line.
Now my curosity is going wild. My great grandmothers name was Harriet born in 1865. I wonder if maybe twins and my date is wrong?Or possibly siblings? The Paulos part of the puzzle doesn't mean much as Paulos was not my grandfathers legal name at the time they met/married. It was a name used to come into the country around 1908 and in the late 1940's had it legally changed to Paulos.

Dad was born in 1889. Do not know the date or anyother dates on his side of the family. I was told a couple of years ago by a half sister that she traced the Junipers back to
Aust. Which makes sense, since dad was a known thief. Hope you can find out what your are searching for. Best regards, R. Juniper

But he married Elizabeth over here after his first wife died at a young age. Elizabeth Juniper had one sister that I know of. I think her Mother was Anna, according to a death record, but could not find them in the 1880 NY census.
