Unusual name stems from his birth in 1776, according to family sources - undocumented.
Lived Buffalo Creek in Nelson Co.,KY until 1822 when he sold the property and moved to Meade Co.,KY.
He apparently lived in Meade Co.,KY until his death although he is recorded in the Harrison Co.,IN census, 1850.
Marriage record of Freeborn and Elizabeth list him as Dupin.

Lewis is buried at the Lemaster-Pound Family Cemetery, Shelby Co.,KY.
Remained single most of his life, tended the plantation left to him by his father.
It appears he moved to Shelby Co.,KY before his death in 1848, near where his widowed sister Mary Lemaster lived.
Three (3) male children were listed with Lewis in the 1820 census. They appear to be the orphaned sons of Cornelius and Kozia (Jupin) Ritchie, who are also named in his will.
Note from Anne Denner, another Jupin/Dupin researcher:
The Nelson County Record Friday 01 April 1898:
Probably the queerest old man who ever lived in Bardstown was Lewis Jupin. The old pioneer occupied for a while a cabin on the old Charles Howell place, which was situated in the suburbs of Bardstown. Jupin was about four feet and a few inches tall, squarely built, wore a wide brimmed hat, was very eccentric in appearance, and always carried a hickory cane in his hand. He owned several Negro children - Sam, Bill, Charley, and Scott - and these he delighted to exhibit on the streets of Bardstown, dressed in military style, with feathers and plumes in bright colors, arranged in fantastic order in their caps. Once a week, about Saturday morning, the old man, with his walking cane and his little soldier boys, would parade the streets to the delight and joy of hundred of onlookers; but by and by the old man sickened and died and his colored soldiers passed into other hands and were forced to work as Negroes did. Sam, Bill, and Scott grew to manhood and served as soldiers in the Union Army, and are now drawing pensions, but Charles was killed in Louisville in 1865 by the falling of a brick wall on East Market Street.
Notes for Catherine Girdley:
Census - 1860: Catherine is recorded with Lewis Lemaster and his family. I suspect on the property left to Lemaster by Lewis Dupin, his uncle.
Census - 1870: Catherine is recorded with James Lemaster, Lewis brother, and his wife... probably on the same property.
She does not appear on the 1880 Census.
