Are we related? I'm not sure if I have the correct cousin as I don't know many of my cousins. I know a few of them but not a lot. I didn't know any of my Mom's uncles except for one Ray Jussaume and his wife Dotty, but i have never met their kids nor do I know much about them. I only met them a couple of years ago.

Hello cousin Marcel,

My husband Doug is the great, great grandson of Jean Louis Baptiste Jussaume 1880-1962 in Douglas, MA. I have been reading the threads about our family and have a question. I see that Jean Baptiste Jussaume lived from 1843 to 1896 (from Louis Jussaume). Your ancestor Gerard was born in 1914 (?). Are we talking about a different Jean Baptiste? You my contact me @ dougsuzanne@yahoo.com.

I do some research at Ottawa Naional Achives, maybe once a year . Sometimes at the Quebec archives in Gatineau. I'm not sure where Mme tremblay does hers.
I did go through the Loiselle (St-Pierre) fiches last summer and his mariage was there did not find a mariage that could connect him to a brother or sister or parents. Found his mariage about 20 years ago at the Quebec Arghives, then in Hull.I found it under St-Pierre Deschamps Jussaume in a mariage repertory book compiled by priece Irené Jetté. Not the same Jetté as the dictionary as far as I know . Did check the Drouin dictionary, does not seem to have a connection to the St-Pierre's or Deschamps's. Only under Jussaume, for they we're in Contrecoeur at that point and let Jussaume's name drop and took St-Pierre, this is where I found Denis Jussaume's mariage not in the Jetté dictionary but in the Drouin. In Tremblay dictionary they have Laurent St-Pierre's wedding also his son's Olivier and his grandson Olivier. I already had those. Now in the 1851 census Laurent is coated as being born in Lower Canada so is Marie-Louise and their daughter Zoé.In his mariage certificate the witness's are Jean-Baptiste Cadotte, he's the witness at several religous ceremony on that page and also at François Olivier's baptism. There is also a Charles Fisette and a Joseph Leblanc, Would you know if these two fit into the Jussaume tree at that time frame? When his daugter Angélique maries in Notre-Dame, Ottawa, On on the 1st of July 1851 to Alexis Gosselin one of the witness is Adèle Leblanc with Joseph Chaput. Have not found a connection between Joseph and Adèle Leblanc. The godparent's to François Olivier, Marie Guertin possibly Marie-Louisr's sister, Olivier Michelon is a bigger mystery, Might be in the Jussaume family tree. I think this is all for now Thank You Diane St-Pierre

Bonjour Mlle St Pierre,

Remercie pour ton response. It is much easier for me to write in English as I do not have a French speaking keyboard. ;) Thank you for this additional information! You are correct I missed the birth of Francois Olivier because I started looking to far after the marriage of his parents…. He is on the bottom of page 46 in the volume that covers 1828 to 1836. Thank you also for the information from Ottawa! Do you do research there often? I have a very good friend there, Mme Tremblay.

It appears that the parrain and marraine are Olivier ( family looks like Michelon) and Marie Guertin.

I will have to check again my genealogy and see if this fits in? Have you checked the Blue Drouin or the Loiselle fiche for the marriage of Laurent and Marie-Louise?

Je vous remercie,
Marcel Jussaume
Bonjour M. Jussaume,

Hello Diane,

How do you know that Laurent was born in or about 1801? Do you know where?

I actually went through the Drouin Microfilm for Contrecouer last night and I did not find any children being born to Laurent St Pierre dit Deschamps or a Jussaume that fit either I went through 1790 when Denis got married up to 1829 when Laurent got married. I even went beyond Laurent's marriage to see if any children show up for him. I did not find any in Contrecouer! I am guessing he came in to marry, and then took his bride elsewhere to live.

Unfortunately Jetté only really covers up to about 1765 ish.

The Blue Druins might shed some light in the St Pierre or Deschamp sections! I have covered the Jussaume sections and there is nothing there for Laurent.....

Hope that helps narrow it down!

Best Regards,
Marcel
Hello Diane,

Wow, That was one of my original posts back in Nov, 1999! Time flies. Unfortunatelty I do not have this Laurent St Pierre-dit-Deschamps who married Marie-Louise Guertin.

I am looking at the Drouin microfilm for Ste Trinite and I have their marriage record and as best as I can make out the declaration indicates that Laurent was living in St Jude which is at St Hyacinthe! But that parish was only established in 1822, so not sure where he comes from, it also indicates that he was of age of majority so at least 18.

I went back into my Jussaume's and I do not have a Laurent Jussaume that was born in the time frame of Dennis Jussaume-dit-StPierre's marriage until this Laurent StPierre -dit-Deschamp marriage to Marie-Louise Guertin. I am digging a little more rigth now and will follow up soon!

Thanks you reminded me of some more open issues I have to sort out!

Best Regards,
Marcel Jussaume
Dracut, MA

St-Pierre Deschamps Jussaume
My ancestor was married at Ste-Trinité, Contrecoeur, Québec His name was Laurent St-Pierre, In the Geneology dictionary Jetté, Jussaume name in Contrecoeur is replaced by St-Pierre. Did not get to the year 1801 on the micro-film of the parish Ste-Trinité the year Laurent supposibly was born. Denis Jussaume takes the name St-Pierre gets maried in 1790, could be Laurent St-Pierre's father no proof of this. for Laurent got maried in 1829 to Marie-Louise Guertin, Ste-Trinité, Contrecoeur, Québec did not leave his parents name . Do you have Denis Jussaume's children's names? Denis Jussaume dit St-Pierre gets maried in 1790 could be my ancestors father no proof of this, can you shed a bit of light on this?

I found my ancestors mariage in a book compiled by prêtre Irenée Jetté. His name was Laurent St-Pierre dit Deschamps, he maried Marie-Louise Guertin February 2nd 1829 at Ste-Trinité, Contrecoeur, Québec. Unfortunetly Laurent did not leave his parents name in the mariage certificate. In the Jetté geneology dictionary I found nothing under Deschamps, St-Pierre dit Dessaint are far from there, did't find any link to him. Under Jussaume, Denis Jussaume dit St-Pierre son of Pierre Jussaume and deceased Louise Dolat marries Marie Jacquart Jacques on the 15th of February 1790, I copied their mariage certificate from the micro-film bobin of the Ste-Trinité, Contrecoeur, Québec. In 1791 Denis baptized a son named Denny son of Denis St-Pierre di Jussaume.Acording
to Jetté dictionary Jussaume becomes St-Pierre. I missed getting to 1801 where Laurent supposibly was born to get his baptisim certificate can anybody shed a bit of light on this. Was Denis St-Pierre dit Jussaume Laurent St-Pierre's father. Thank you Diane St-Pierre

What information do you have about the train accident do you know the names of the people besides Adelard that were killed? Where did this happen? I have the Jussaume side done out all the way back to France and have the complete Fan from your mother back! about 12 to 14 Generations. I am trying to fill in all of the descendants of Adelard and his generation to the present now.
I have been pouring through Massachusetts Vital Records lately.

Marcel

You can email me directly at home at marcelj@attbi.com
Just tried posting a reply and had some problem. I hope this isn't a duplicate. I think I found the relationship between Marie and Celina Jussaume. According to my records, Augustin and JB Jussaume were brothers. JB was Celina's (my gggrandmother) grandfather (JB was also the name of her father.) I think that would make Marie and Celina second cousins. I hope this makes sense -- you may have found your answer by now, anyway!

A lot of time has passed since the last entry, but I just came across this board. My gggrandmother is Celina Jussaume, (daughter of JB Jussaume and Rosalie Lamorreaux) m to JB Grenon. Their daughter, Seraphine, married Louis Lussier, also from Contre Coeur. They lived and raised their family in the Chicopee MA area. My grandmother, Albina Lussier, married Hector Gobeille of Stanstead, PQ. My mother and her siblings were all born and raised in Springfield MA. My mother passed away last year and wanted to be buried in Springfield with her grandmother, Seraphine. Celina Jussaume is also buried there. I don't really know anything about Celina Jussaume Grenon, but I do have a photograph of her. My mother was two when Celina passed away so she never knew her. She believed that Celina came to the US to live with her daughter because she was widowed fairly young.
When my father and I researched my mother's Lussier and Gobeille ancestry we were able to visit Montreal and Contre Coeue and traced the Jussaumes back to Pierre and Louise Boulet -- mid 18th c. I am missing a lot of dates, however. I'm not sure this will help. Glad to share anything I have.

Hello Dee,

I am not certain why you posted this on the Jussaume message board? However the only advise I can give is if your father Jim and your mother who is now deceased (my sympathy) were married? would be to get your mothers death certificate from Vital Records in Massachusetts if that is where she died. If someone else was the informant then they might have listed your mother's spouse. If nothing else you have the right to your own Birth Certificate which can be obtained at the same location. Your fathers name might be listed if your mother included it at the time of your birth.

From there where you do not have the exact year of death if you have your father's name you can get his death certificate at Vital Records as well. If you do not have a last name then it would be to search the news papers in the towns you mentioned for the years you listed, perhaps even a year or two before and after....

Not much help but you have to many unknowns to not proceed this way.....

Best Regards and good Luck,
Marcel
Hi Denise,

I'm working my way through to a 1815 marriage and will probably have it ready in about three weeks.

The marriage of Jean Baptiste to Marie Coitou produced 9 or more children in order of marriages. M-Celina, 1956 F; John Baptiste 1865 M, my great grandfather; Joseph 1867 M; M. Philomene 1869 F; Eduard m 1871; Clementine F 1872; Emerence ? 1876; Denis M 1872: your great-great-great grandfather Gilbert 1874.

Marcel's great-great-great grandfather i believe is John Baptiste, same as mine. I called a Aurore adn talked to Rita. She led me to believe they were cousins from Contrecocu. I hope Marcel reads this and comment. He is one or two generations ahead. We will find it hard with the children born in North Dakota.

Thanks so much, I hope to hear from you soon.

Louis

I'm not sure how they relate or if they relate to Marie Catherine, I just wanted to mention that I did come across some in Mass, Marlboro specifically.
There is a F.X. LeBlanc in Marlboro whose parents are JB LeBlanc and Sophia Dussaume.
There is also two sisters, it appears, in Spencer MA, wives of two brothers, Mary and Alphonsine Dussaume who were married to Grenons. I will be getting their information in Montreal in 3 weeks and hopefully I can help you more.
The thing is that there is no Dussaume information, only that it may be originally Jussaume.
I need to do more research and it should be soon.
Until then...

Hello,
I need some help locating information on a Highway-Rail Crossing Accident.
The accident involving a motorcycle and a train (head-on I believe). It occurred between 1959 and 1963. The person on the motorcycle was a fatality; he was about 19, possibly named Jim (something?) Do not know his last name. He would be my father.
I am sick and would like to know more about him and his family.
Please if anyone can help...
My mother, Joyce Tracia, kept this from me, she died in 1999, and no one else can remember more than this.
They were both from Holbrook.
They said it happened either in Holbrook or Randolph, (although possibly Brockton too). It was a motorcycle train collision Massachusetts
I have been searching for a while now to no avail. I am searching some archives when I can go the library, but looking for Jim or James and this train/motorcycle accident is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance,

Denise
60's history -- Highway-Rail Crossing Accident (motorcycle train collision) Massachusetts
I have just returned from the Archives in Montreal and although I didn't have time for much research this is what I found:
Augustin Grenon m M Agnes Chapedeleine

their child is Paul Hypolite Grenon m Margaret Dussault

thier child is Marie Celina Jussaume m JB Grenon 4-2-1856 I don't know if this is your Marie or a sibling, nevertheless she is on the same line)
Marie Celina Jussaume parents are
JB Jussaume St. Pierre and Rosalie Lamoureux (DRUID)

JB parents are JB Jussaume St. Pierre and Catherine Coitou
Catherin Coitou parents are Bemoni and M. Catherine Menard according to what I have found on the internet from the Chapedeleine website.

My relation is:
I am Paul Hypolite Grenon's brothers Josephs grgrgrandaughter. His son Edouard also married a Jussaume, Marie, daughter of Augustin Jussaume and Agathe Mandeville. I am trying to find the relation between her and Marie Celina Jussaume.

Secondly, and this may be helpful. It appears the Catherine Coitou was married a first time to my other gr gr grandfather Jean-Baptiste Leblanc, son of Ambroise Leblanc and Magdeleine Menard. Magdeleine Menard is daughter of P. Menard and Genev. Gerbit in case you need to differentiate between the Menard of his side and Catherine's mother. They were married on 1-10-1810 in Contrecoeur. Her name is listed in the Druin as M. Catherine Coytoux-St-Jean.
Her marriage to JB Leblanc is listed on page 153 of the "mariage du contrecoeur 1668-1996 Jette."

I hope this helps.
Hello again Louis,

Going thru my database it occured to me that there are two
Augustin Jussaume's in my file. the firwst one is Augustin married to
Philomene Salvail-Lindsey about 1889 in Contrecoeur, PQ, Canada
their son Joseph E Jussaume married Adrienne M Dupre in 1922 in Contrecoeur.
and they have a son Augustin who was born about 1925. It this Agustin that
is your father? DO you have information about Augustin and Philomene's parents?
I have been trying to get them tied into the rest of the clan.
YOu mentioned Jean-Baptiste Jussaume being my G-G-G Grandfather. There are several
in my lineage back to the first Jean-Baptiste Jusseau from France born around 1665
His son is Leonard the first Canadian anscetor to our family.

Can you provide more information?

Best Regards,

Marcel Jussaume

Hello Jacqueline, which of the Jussaume clans from douglas Ma are you from?
I to am stuck at Jean Baptiste and Marie. There appears to be some gaps in the
records of Ste. Trinity de Contrecoeur. There was a fire a thre church in the
1920's I believe and I have been trying to find out if some of the
church recors were lost. I have been in touch with Louis and several other Jussaume's
are you in Texas? Richard Stowell? Please keep me informed if you get anywhere?

Thanks,

Marcel Jussaume

I am certain that we are related through Jean Baptiste's parents just need proof positive on who
his parents are.
Hello Jacqueline,

Thanks for your reply! I have you in my files, at least your maiden name and two sons.
No marriage date or birth dates though. I do have Jean Baptiste and Marie-Catherine Coitou-dit-St-Jean
in my records, however they would have been married almost 27 years before Jean Baptiste who married
Marie Valliere was born. Kind of a stretch, but you never know. Where do you and David live now. You
are welcome to reply directly to my email address if you do not want to put information up on the bulletin
board. I am at marcelj@mediaone.net. My guess is that you have been corresponding with Louis Jussaume
at least. I am trying to resolve the parents of sevral Jean-Baptiste Jussaume's all of whom ended up
in Massachusetts with parents in Canada. Some in Lowell near my home, Marlboro, East Douglas and Fall
River and Rhode Island. They all came from only a couple of possible couples in Canada.
I would like to know what information you have. I would be willing to share what I have as well.

Thanks for your quick reply.

Best Regards,
Marcel Jussaume

Hell Dianne,

Is this the Richard Jussaume from Alabama? If it is I only know about his death, I would like to know more about him and his family. Do you know his parents names?

I am conducting research into all of the Jussaume/Jusseaume/Dussaume/Dussiaume families that I can find. I have most of them sorted out and tied back to 2 proginators from France.

I would like to share with you in exchange for what you might have on Richard, his parents, wife and children.
I am curious as to how he ended up in Alabama. Most Jussaume's are in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut with a few more out West.
Please feel free to contact me directly at marcelj@mediaone.net

Hi Jerry,
I have some folks in my family tree in New Bedford, Mass but they spelled their surname "Jessum" instead of the spelling you use.
There was a James T Jessum who married a Sarah Ellen Preece. This couple had a son named Stephen B Jessum born in 1888 in New Bedford.
James is listed as a mason living at 6 Willow St, New Bedford, Mass in 1889 and 1890. There is also an Ann Jessum living aat 47 Durfee St, New Bedford in 1889.
Could these folks have a link to your family in some way?
Thank you
Jan

JESSUM OF NEW BEDFORD MA

Does anyone know whether or not the spelling of the surname Jussaume may have been been changed to Jessum by some branch of the family? My grandfather had a first cousin named Stephen B Jessum born in New Bedford, MA in 1888. Stephen's parents were James T Jessum and Sarah Ellen Preece Jessum. I believe James was a Mason by profession and lived at one time at 6 willow St, New Bedford, MA.
At some point this family moved to Philadelphia.
If any of this is familiar please send me an email at MsBlkWdo@aol.com
Thank you
Jan
