St. John Lutheran of Atwater has the following entry:

Henry Lembcke, died June 5, 1947, buried Sauk Rapids. Survived by 6 children, 16 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Alan Moll

Hi Alan,

Yes this is the same Henry Lembcke, my great grandfather. I have a photo of his 3 sisters who stayed in Germany. I'm now trying to make a connection to their descendents so that perhaps I might identify which sister is which knowing that Maria König is a daughter of one of them. I may be able to learn more on another trip back to Salt Lake as I have identified the parish for Barnkrug since I posted this email nearly 5 years ago.

Lois

Marianna Koenig/Konig - Hungary

Marianna mar my ggrandfather, Nikolaus Schagh about 1874 in Hungary--probably Zichydorf. He came from either Zichydorf or Modosch or Setschan and she might have come from Gottlob or any of the other towns. I have no parents for her but I believe she died about 1919. AFter Nikolaus died (unknown causes or where) she remarried to Peter Niedermayer who lived in Zichydorf. They had one more child, Mathias Niedermayer, who later mar and immigrated to Regina, Canada where he died.

My grandparents had three children that we know of: Michael (my grandfather), Theresa and Nickolaus. If you can help with any of these names, please email me personally. I don't get to this board - it led me here when I asked for Koenig. Thanks.....hope to hear from one of you............carol cincotta

The Sicilian woman who wrote, Sicilian Sisters, by Marianna came from Lipari. The book delves into the past in the 15th century when pirates escaping capture landed in Lipari. This could be a relative. To buy the book about Sicily the web site is: www.siciliansisters.com

Maria König >Duvenstedt, Hamburg, Germany

I am looking for descendents of Maria König of Duvenstedt, Hamburg, Germany. According to letters written from Germany in the 1940's & 50's to my grandmother, Clara Lembcke Fick they were cousins. Clara (1894-1977) was the daugher of Henry Lembcke (1860-1947) of Barnkrug, Germany and Gesche Lemmermann of Ahrensmor, Germany. Henry & Gesche married in 1883 in Germany and came to Stevens County, Minnesota USA in 1885. I do know from other letters that Henry Lembcke had a nephew Hinrich Lembcke still in Barnkrug in 1937. If anyone has information that can help make the connection between Maria König and Clara Lembcke Fick I would appreciate hearing from you.

Meaning of surname König

Does anyone know if there is special meaning/significance to the König surname? I believe it translates literally to King in English. What I am really curious about is the reason our ancestors either chose it or had it assigned to them. I wonder if they had some connection to the rulers of Germany or Austria?
