The descendants of Walter and Minnie Kaatz met for their first family reunion at E.A.K. Ranch near Florence, homer of Ervin A. Kaatz, the couple's oldest son, on Mayh 26 & 27, 2000.
Brotehres, sisters and spouses gathered at the ranch on Friday and enjoyed spending the day with each other.There were over 40 members present including the newest addition to the family, Kyla.
On Saturday, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren spent the day visiting,playing games, some meting for the first time. Everyone present enjoyed a barbecue dinner in the evening and spent time visiting until late that night.
Walter and minnie Kaatz raised seven children: Ervin of Florence;Wernen of Las Vegas,NV;Walter Jr. of Compton,CA; Dessie Ann of Mesa, AZ; Adolph of San Antonio,TX and Rose Lee of Corpus Christi. All were presnet with the exception of Wernen and Walter Jr.
All five Kaatz sons served in World War II and their parents who migrated from Germany in the 1800s settling on a farm east of Thrall and south of Sandoval.
Minnie Kaatz was the daughter of Fritz Brinkmeyer Sr. And Lena Brinkmeyer, also a family from Germany. The two camilies were neighbors when living near Thrall,TX.
Everyone expressed a desire to meet again,making the reunion as annual event.
