I am searching for information on Johann and Sophie (Schmidt) Kabat who came to Detroit, MI, from Kolmar, Pozen, Prussia in the nineteen teens. If anyone has marriage records or a source for them please contact me. Sophie Schmidt( aka Schmitt) came to the US with her parents Julius Schmitt and Anna Schmitt (Sell) and her three brothers...Phillip, Paul and Leo.

Am looking for information about a Kabat family that lived in or near Manistee, Michigan around 1880. My husband's grandfather claimed to have been born in Manistee in 1879 and his father's name was Paul, but we have not been able to find anything about them. Would appreciate any leads.

Married to Anton Gorzynski in 1884
Died in 1907 from Phenmonia at home.
Buried St. Adelberts catholic Cemetery
Children:

Sephen 1898
Adam 1900
Helen 1903
Chester 1905

Any Help in Locating Maryann birth family would be greatly appreciated.
Unable to get to LDS library to view church records.

Joseph Kabat

I found a Joseph Kabat age 20 living in Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa in 1860 with his wife Eleanor and a son Joseph and John Valenta.

They are living right next to my great great grandparents Jacob and Mary Macal.

Am wondering if there is any connection between the two families.

Miss Irene Cecelia Kabat, 55, of Hiroshima, Japan, formerly of Houston, died Wednesday at M.D. Anderson Hospital. Born in Oklahoma, served in the capacity of executive assistant to business administrator of the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission in Hiroshima. Survivors, brother George Kabat, North Manchester, Ind. Remains to be sent to Bender Funeral Home, Indiana for burial. Memorials in remembrances of Miss Kabat may be sent to the Department of Pediatrics at M.D. Anderson Hospital. Local arrangements by Pat H. Foley & Co. Chapel of the Garden, 1200 West 34th Northwest.

Published in the Houston Chronicle on Thursday, February 10, 1966.

I just found my great grandfathers (Louis)marriage certificate from Czech who married Maria Bacianska and a Wenzislaus Kabat is on the certificate, I beleive as a witness. I can't read Czech. Please let me know if you have a connection to that name.
