I am interested in finding out if there may be a link between the Cagle/Kegel and Kachel families who settled in Berks Co., PA in the mid 1700's. I am descended from Leonhart Kegel who came to this country from Germany in 1732. His family settled in Berks Co and owned land in Oley, Brecknock and possibly Alsace townships. In 1754 his family went to NC, although we are not sure all of the family went. In my research I have seen the Kegel name in Berks County tax records change from Kegel to Kagel to Kachel over a period of years. I am aware that there was a Kachel family that came to Berks Co. I believe around 1750. What I am looking to find is the possibility that some of the Berks Kachel family may have descended from Leonhart Kegel. I am also interested in the possibility that the Kachel family that came to Berks circa 1750 may have been related to the Kegel family and came to Berks to join the Kegel family that was already in Berks? I realize this is a tall order, but I am interested in pursuing all leads and am happy to share information.
