My grandfather's name was August Godfrey Kachelriess
he was born in Astoria, Long Island, New York
on August 18, 1887. His father's name was Henry
(Heinrich?) and his mother's name was Augusta
as far as I know Henry and Augusta were born in
Germany and came to the U.S. not too long before
August's birth. I cannot find any records before
August, and those are sparse. Parent's names are
from my 80 year old mom's memory. I wonder if
they are connected to your Kachelriess's? Family
gossip always said that a branch of the family
has been in the U.S. for a long time. Do you have
any idea what area in Germany your Kachelriess
family originated?
I would appreciate any info you might have.
