Hi, I'm looking for information on a George Kadar that either lived at or possibly had a Bait & Tackle shop at 73825 River Road, Rockwood, MI. I think he may have been related to a Elizabeth Kadar, 33825 W. Jefferson Avenue, Rockwood, MI.

I collect antique fishing lures and recently purchased a large collection of casting weights from a guy in Stow, Oh. One of the casting weights had George's name and address on it, I am looking for information on any information on the company, time of operation and age of casting weight.

Donnie Shingler
979-248-6105

Please contact me 941.306.5588 in Florida. While tracing my family tree (Szucsik-Lawrence-Orosz-Garancsi), I was given a wedding picture entitled "Kadar Wedding - Aunt & Uncle's Wedding" est. 1908-1910, likely in Trenton, NJ. My mother came to Trenton at age 3 with her parents from Nyirderzs/Pocspetri Hungary. My mother, about 7 or 8 years, her brother about 2 yrs, and her parents Mary & John Szucik are in it. I have never been able to figure out who the couple was. My mother, Mary Szucsik Garancsi/Garansi died in 1952 at age 48. alicefl@tampabay.rr.com

Frances is my mother's sister. Minor corrections: Ivan and Manda Radinovic had nine children, six of whom survived to adulthood. My records show that she died on 24 March 2011. Gene died 18 April 1982. I visited him a few months before he passed and remember well the last time I saw he and Aunt Fran wave goodbye from the front door as I drove away from their Greenock home. I attended the funeral and the interment at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Otherwise, nice obituary.

Hi Chris,

There are quite a number of Kadars even here in the US. As far as my family is concerned I am the only one living in the US. My brother lives in Hungary and last year he had managed to take a picture of our family tree that was stored at a relative in Transylvania (now Romania). From that our oldest known and verified ancestor was living in Ernei (in hungarian Nagyernye) Transylvania, north-east of Tirgu Mures (Marosvasarhely) from the start of the 1800-s. He was a teacher in a school for more than 50 years. His first name was Janos (John). I do not know how much you know of your ancestry lineage, I would be interested to find out. There is a social WEBsite in Hungary, www.iwiw.hu that actually has a club of Kadars in it.

Best regards,

Miklos

Yes, we are related. Loretta is my mom. My dad, George L. Kadar, SR. died in October, 2004. Joe (your grandpa) was my mom's beloved brother --her favorite. Your dad, who I called "Bernie" when we were growoing up on 138th St, in Blue Island, was always a very sweet cousin. Your research sounds correct as far as it goes.

I'm attaching a 1980's photo of me, my two sons (Justin and Blain), my mom, and Grandma Glim. My mom is still alive. If you'd like to stay in touch, you can e-mail me at sjboudreau@msn.com.

Hi -- I think we may be distantly related! I am researching the Glim family tree. I think Loretta Glim was the sister of my grandfather or greatgrandfather. My father is Bernard Glim; his father was Joseph Louis Glim (1917 - 1999), son of Louis Glim (1888 - 1964), son of Bernard Glim (or Glein?), who was born in the Netherlands in 1860 and died in Chicago in 1920. I'm having trouble tracing back after Bernard, although it seems he arrived in the US with his wife Mary (Schliberman) in 1881 or 1887. Does this sound like anything you've found yourself? I'd love to compare notes! This particular branch of the Glims is still in Chicago.

Hi Mike,

I will get to place the pictures up for WEB-viewing over the weekend. At this point I made two sets from where I am living and lived in the US for my friends in Hungary. Nevertheless the pictures I made in Hungary and neighboring Romania (formerly Transylvania) I believe are pretty interesting and worth to look at. Also there are many. In order for you to get an invite to the Picasa link I will need your E-mail address. My main email address is nkadar52@frontiernet.net. I currently live in Harpers Ferry West Virginia and work at Orbital Sciences in Sterling Virginia (37 miles). Last time in 2006 I visited Visegrad in Hungary that used to be a royal residence until the end of the 1400-s. It has a fortification on top of a hill overlooking the river Danube (or Duna in hungarian). I was also an invited guest to a folk music and dance researcher's 80-th birthday who half of the year lives in Romania and the other half of the year lives at my mother's twin sister's apartment in Budapest. I have never been to that part of Transylvania before so it was very interesting to have a look there. My earlier visits I was at the lake Balaton (a resort) where our family has a vacation house. I made plenty of pictures there as well. If your father lived in Debrecen (this is the correct spelling) then there is a possibility that he was a member of the Calvinist Hungarian Reformed Church. My grandfather was a Pastor of that church in various small villages close to the present day hungarian border in now Romania. I do not know if you are familiar with this denomination. It is very close to the Dutch Reformed Church.
There is a chance that this May I will go again to Hungary. It is a little in limbo. If I go I will visit different places this time.

Regards,

Miklos (Nick in english)
Hi miklos, thankyou for getting back to me,my father also hated the old regime in hungary, and sadly missed his homeland,he really did not like being a refugee in a strange country, this is why i think my father could not settle,i did not even know his religion,or his background,i was only small when my parents split up,my father as i remember was a fine man, very good with his hands, turning his hand to anything,i do recall him saying how he missed debricen,i think he had a brother in the army, but he died young through being shot,i would be very grateful if i could look at your photos, and am very excited that you have replied to me,i will go to hungary one day,and find a part of me that has been missing,to see glorious budapest, new and old,and sample the food my father used to make me as a small boy, always making me eat peppers, saying they were good for me,i am proud to have hungarian blood in me and although some kids at school made my life difficult,i felt special because of my hungarian roots, please reply soon, regards mike.

Hi Mihaly,

I was born in Hungary and lived there until I was 31 years old. Left in 1983 because I could not stand communism. My brother still lives there and so is my mother. My father passed away a long time ago in 1972. Recently my brother has managed to get a family tree of ours, Kadars from Romania (formerly part of Hungary and you know it as Transylvania). If I get back this year to Hungary we may get on a trip to find more roots of our ancestry in Transylvania. Strangely enough both my father and mother had spent years in Debrecen where your late father is from. If you are interested I can put together an album of my pictures on Google's Picasa about parts of Hungary I had visited in the last few years. Certainly can help you with any questions you have about Hungary. Who knows, we may be related some centuries back.
Sincerely,
Miklos
Hi, at long last i finally realise i am not the the only kadar in this world, my father was a hungarian refugee,my mother is english, they met when he came to london england,i never really knew my father that well, shame really because the memories i have of him are nice, his ways were somewhat different to all the other people i had grown up with, i liked his simple values, good food, family, wine and shelter, not greed and material things so many of the english people poccessed. My father really did not like england, but loved his homeland, hungary, i am half english half hungarian, sadly my father has passed away, i lost contact with him for over twenty years, only for him to re-surface, some 8 years or so ago, just when i was getting to know him, he passed away, i have so many things i would like to know about hungary, in particular Debricen where my father was born, if you can respond to me i would be most grateful, kind regards Mihaly Kadar.

Both of them were born in Transylvania, while I was born in Budapest. I just found out from my brother about a number of Kadar relationships thanks to somebody keeping track of things in Transylvania. We may not be related, but the fact that the ancestry goes back to Transylvania tells me that we indeed are. If you are interested in further details I could pass you along the info I have.

My father's name was George Kadar, son of Zsigmond Kadar, violinist, born in Transylvania and emigrated to Chicago, Illinois around the turn of the last century. I was told he left a widowd mother and a sister in Hungary when he emigrated. He had violin business in West Pullman, a suburb of Chicao. He met my grandmother, a widow named Elizabeth Mudluska (of Szged) Gaspar, and they married. My father, the middle of three boys and also a violinist, was born 8/10/1914 and died 10/4/2004. He was born in West Pullman but after he married my mother, Loretta Glim, in July of 1940, they settled in Blue Island and raised three children, of which I am the second-born. I now live in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Please reply.
