Do you know if this Fred Kadow had any brothers or sisters?
My great-grandpa was a railroad man who worked in the yards in Dubuque. He was killed when the toe of his boot caught under a tie as he was crossing the tracks after throwing the switch for the incoming train. My grandfather was in the depot at the time and saw the men carry his father away on a door. He was about four years at that time. My dad was born in 1916, so I don't thing the gentleman who ran the funeral could have been my great-grandfather, but could be related somehow. It seems that this family named their children for aunts and uncles, so there are a lot of names repeated. My grandpa Fred Kadow worked for a blind saloon-keeper in Dubuque for a time before marrying my grandmother, Mary Mathilda Droessler from Wisconsin.
If you can shed any light on this, please let me know.
