Sadie went by her middle name, Eleanor and married William "Eddie" Gosnell. Laura lived with them till her death.

Hi,
I am William Stephen Kaehler originally from Severna Park MD. The son of William Edward Kaehler. Laura was my grandmother. Her husband, my grandfather was George Aloyiusus Maria Kaehler. I believe my father said he died when he was 12, so that would make it about 1921.And I do remember her maiden name was Tracey. Hope that helps. There was also another son Pete (Peter maybe, I just new him as uncle Pete.)

Louise E. Kaehler, 77, of Hanover, passed away peacefully, Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at the Brethren Home Community in New Oxford, with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of Joseph A. Kaehler, who died Sept. 29, 1991.

Born Jan. 28, 1934, in Chipmonk, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lucille (Turney) Brown.

Louise was a homemaker most of her life and more recently worked at Myers Meat Market in Hanover at the meat counter. She was a 1951 graduate of Eichelberger High School and the class treasurer. Louise was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Hanover, the Rosary Club, LCBA, and AARP.

Surviving are seven children, MaryJo Brown and husband Fred of New Oxford, Andrew Kaehler and wife Peggy of Harrisburg, Michael Kaehler and wife Patricia, Joseph Kaehler and wife Connie, Timothy Kaehler and wife Diane, all of Hanover, Mark Kaehler and wife Wendy of McSherrystown, and Paul Kaehler and wife Melissa of Phoenix, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren, Amber, Autumn, Nikolaus, Erik, Christine, Drew, Michael, Amy, Nichole, Joshua, Sarah, Jenna, Amanda, Mitchell, Matthew, Emily, Ezra, Nigel, Alexia, Bianca, and Sebastian; three great-grandchildren, Kelsie, Kayla, and Logan; and one sister, Arlene Adams of Hanover. She was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Wherley, and a brother, Thomas Brown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at St. Vincent Church, Hanover, with Rev. Timothy Marcoe and Rev. David Shaum concelebrating. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery, Hanover. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons Nikolaus, Erik, Drew, Joshua, Michael, Matthew, and Mitchell. Friends and relatives will be received Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with the rosary recited at 8 p.m.

Could Edward Kaehler have been married to a Samantha Pryor (DOB 1-10-1899 in Ill.) for a short time or have had child out of wedlock. Eileen Kaelor (that is spelling on cencus 1920 for Samantha Pryor). Samantha married shortly after to William Rub who adopted Eileen. I have been told spelling for Eileen's name is Eileen Kaehler and her father's name was Edward.

Seeking descendants of Wilhelm Kaehler and wife Bertha Danckert who married 1886 and raised family in SCHWERIN.

Thank you for your response. My mother is Geraldine Latkowski Kaehler. Her parents were Stanley and Helen (Musolff) Latkowski. She had only one sister Sylvia. Sylvia married Anthony Buras and they had one daughter named Karen. My mother, Geraldine married Alexander Kaehler and they had me and 4 sisters one brother and 2 half brothers. My father Alexander was previously married.
I believe we have a connection because My grandfather (Stanley Latkowski) had an older sister Helen who married Nick Brodzinski and a younger brother named Bernard who married Pearl, which before hearing from you I did not have a maiden name.
Bernard and Pearl as you stated had 4 sons Melvin, Norbert, Ronald, Richard and a daughter Elaine.
If this information matches with your info I would love to hear from you again. You can either contact me directly or thru the message boards.

Thanx for your info.I was married to Norbert who passed away Oct. 1996. I have been looking for info on his family for several years. His brothers Melvin and Ronald have passed away and I have no idea where Elaine is. I have been in touch with his brother Richard and wife Gwenn. My great-grandfather was Charles Kaehlert who was married to Lillian Harriett Burdick. My grabndmother was Amelia Kaehlert(Schildgen) of Joliet, IL. Amelia was born in Plainfield.

I'm trying to research a Kaehler family from MD. I have found them in the 1930 Census living on Serverna Park Rd., Serverna Park, MD. Head of household is Laura A., Sons: Authur C., William E., Frances C., and Robert C. Daughters: Mary K., and Sadie E. I can't trace them back any further. I believe Laura's Maiden name is Tracey and that her husband's name was George A. Kaehler. On the census it has Laura as being born in MD and her children's father as being born in PA. Any information regarding this family would be greatly appreciated.

My Cole/Koehler/Kaehler family originated from the Alsace region of Germany. (Immigrated to America in 1849) After the last(?) border change in 1871(?) all family members listed themselves as being born in France rather than Germany. (They were French speaking)
Is this a familiar region for the surname Kaehler? Are most Kaehlers German speaking?
Any help concerning the surname & geography would be great!

My grandparents were Oscar Kahler b. Jan. 1860 and Augusta Gabriel Kahler b. Aug. 1862. Had 3 daus., Mildred, ( my g.mother) Hattie, and Elsie; then moved to New York, and had 5 more kids. Do you know anything about them. We have no idea where in Ger. they came from Thanks Helen.

My grand mothers maiden name was Maria Kaehler born in germany 1868, married Joesf Stenzel 18--? immigrated to New York through Ellis Island in 1902 went back to germany 19--?re-immigrated to the US through Galvastan Texas in 1907, settled in Kansas, immigrated to Canada .She seems to have been raised by he grandmother? also ,she grew up around the black forrest in Germany They had 3 sons one died in germany ? named Joe, John born in new Jersey,and Henry who is my dad. Hi Mari,

I now have a German map. I can tell you that Neubrandenburg is about 72 miles from Schrewin. Neubrandenburg is southeast of Schrewin. I can not find ZITTOW or NEUGARTEN, WOGGERSIN or BREESEN on the new map. They may be too small or non-existent today.

My husband tried the MAPBLAST address but didn't find what we were looking for. Perhaps we didn't stay with it long enough.
Did you try Mapblast and did you find what you were looking for? Sounds like "Mike's family is also in that area of Mecklenburg that my family is from.

Mari, surprised you were in L.V. We are almost neighbors. You said you had the names of your gr gr grandfather's family.
Any Johanne, Herman, Bertha, Irene, Helene, Hafer/Haver or info on Chicago family? This search is interesting, but slow. Thanks for being there!

Breesen and Woggersin are just NW of Neubrandberg. I don't know by how many miles, but I would guess about 10-15 miles, if that. Does that help you? I will locate a German map today.

I don't know where Neubrandenburg is in relation to Schrewin, but will get a German map today. I just noticed on the map that I do have that there is a "town/village" just immediately "SOUTH" of WOGGERSIN that looks like ZITTOW, I can't be sure as the name isn't clearly printed. Could that be?

Where are you located? I'm in southern California.

Did you check the passenger lists of the ships from Hamburg. I am just getting started in looking but have found the passenger lists very helpful. The name Kaehler could have several variations. I am looking for Kaetler's (mennonites) and in particular for Jacob Kaetler who's son is Henry Kaetler (born in 1848) and came to Canada in 1875 - 76. He is my great X 3 Grandfather.
