John Henry Kaempf 1821-1898, Columbia, IL (Monroe Co.) was my great grandmother's stepfather. He married Theresa Mayer or Theresa Marks. His stepdaughter, Caroline Steve, married Henry William Schaiper, all of Columbia, IL.

I also have a Charles Kaempf 7 Sep 1874 - 19 Dec 1951, marred to Anna M. Kaempf, 7 May 1879 - 5 Mar 1958, who is definitely related to my grandmother, but I cannot complete the connection.

My gg grandfather was George H. Kempher. Came to US in 1850 as Kaempfer with brother Jacob and others. George was born in Weislingen France. His father (Bartholomeus) was born in Greifswald Germany and grand mother was Anna Barbara Gugi who was born in/near Zuben Switzerland. I am convinced that his family had connection to St. Clair because many of the folks there came from Alsace/Weislingen area. Would like to compare notes.

Thanks anyway. John J. Kaempf was my great great grandfather. He had a few brothers and sisters, just to throw a few more names out there, they were: Otto, Peter, Margaret, Janice and Anna. They were all born after 1876. There is no connection to Oregon that I know of.

Hello, I seen your inquiry about the Kampf name. I have a copy of a cencus for Iowa in nin eighteeneighhyy , which lists my gr-grandfather John J. Kampf and his wife Mary Ann Punt Kampf. It also said that he was born in Hesse. They had a son named Jacob, Joseph, Phillip, etc. On his headstone, says that he was born in Folheim, germany. Maybe, we may be related, as I do not knnow who John J. parents were or if he had and sister or nrothers..
DATA: Kaempf, W. listed in 1929 Richmond, VA yearbook

DATA Message RE: The Marshallite, 1929 John Marshall High School yearbook (Richmond, VA).

This yearbook lists the members of the Senior class of 1929, faculty members, members of the Corps of Cadets, and many members of various clubs (not all). Unfortunately, it does not list the names of the members of the Junior, Sophomore or Freshmen classes (only officers listed for those classes). It includes the following name(s):

Kaempf, W.

There's over 1,900 records, so I've only listed the name(s), as it appears in the yearbook in this message.

If you would like to view all of the information that I extracted from the yearbook, I have uploaded it to my freepages genealogy web site. The link to the first page of these extracts on my web site is:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/family/r...

Or it can be accessed through the "General Research" link on the main page at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Please note that my site contains free genealogy related data & IS NOT a "commercial" or "advertising" site. Until I can get back out & do research on my own families, my hobby is posting free genealogy related data online that may help other reseachers. I put all kinds of genealogy information on my web site (including information others send to me to share on the site), not just data about the families I am researching (therefore I can't answer questions about everyone I have listed on the site). I hope the information I've put online helps someone with their research . . .

Susan :)
Sassytazzy's Online Genealogy Research Library
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

I have a Salome KEMPF born October 9, 1830 in Switzerland. Married to J. (Joseph) ZULLE / ZUELLE on June 6, 1855 at Madison Co., IL.. She was widowed sometime between 1864 - 1870, as Mrs. ZUELLE remarried to John PORTMANN on March 29, 1870, also in Madison Co., IL. My only clue to her parentage is from a 1911 Grundy Co., Missouri history book that mentions her parent as Mike and Louise Kempfe.

A John Boeschenstein built a store in Highland, Madison Co., IL, that for years was known as the KEMPF BLDG., why I do not know because it does not mention any KEMPF ever owning it. One of our family stories is that the ZULLE / KEMPF were Swiss merchants.

Thus far, I have been unable to locate any information in Madison Co., IL, on Mike and Louise KEMPF who came from Switzerland. I too would like to hear from anyone that has a KAEMPFE / KAMPFE / KEMPFE family connection in Southern IL.

My eye caught the John J Kaempf Posting then I noticed your reply stating you were John T Kaempf. Which is odd that is also my grandfather T being for Thomas. John is a family name for generations back. Its just bizarre to me considering my whole life the only people in my state with that last name which is few were related to me.
Before my grandfather died he had researched our history as far as he could but one of the court houses had burned and all records were destroyed. I do believe that last connection was CT. Maybe wrong on that. The majority of my ancestors were in the VA area.
