My g-grandparents was Charles Caber and Caroline. I'm interested in knowing about Lewis and Philipena Caber. I can't find a Lewis or similiar in Germany. However I have someone researching in Germany and he has found Philipena Lowenberg born Sept 14,1810 in Dreisen,Bavaria. Christening in Marnheim,Bavaria Sept 16. However according to Latter Day Saints she was not married to Lewis Caber but a Jacob Ludwig Kafer,Rosenthal,Germany. A short distance from Dreisen. They had a son Karles Wilhelm Kafer. They were married Oct 7 1835. No mention of a brother John ?? die at birth?? This is important because if they are the parents of Charles Caber than there was a name change during the trip to America. It would be nice to keep the Caber link intact. So...can you give me substantive info to differ with this. My research person in Germany isn't buying the Lewis. Also in the 1920 census shortly before g-grandfathers death the name appeared as Cafer. I'm surmising that Caroline wanted to nudge the name back on course some and she also used Caitilin in this census also. The census was taken in Jan 5,6 1920 months from G-grandfather Charles death assuming he was in poor health it was Caroline that provided the information. Please reply.
