Carol A. Curl, age 71, of Port Charlotte, Florida and formerly of Mount Gilead, OHIO died January 26, 2011 after a brief illness.
Carol was born December 21, 1939 in Bucyrus, OHIO (Crawford County) to the late Virgil F. and Mary K. (Melick) Kafer.
She was a graduate of Holmes-Liberty High School in 1957, The Ohio State University with a B.S. in 1961, and a Masters Degree from the OSU College of Social Work in 1963.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Dean; a son Bradley; a daughter, Cynthia both of Columbus, OH.; and a brother, Virgil L. Kafer of Houston, TX.
She was the Director of Human Services in Morrow County for 25 years, retiring in September 2001. After her retirement, Carol moved to Port Charlotte, FL. with her husband, who had retired as the Judge of Court of Common Pleas for Morrow County.
Carol was a tireless leader in the establishment of services and numerous new agencies to meet the needs of Morrow County. Upon her retirement she was the recipient of the Arthur Fleming Community Service Award granted by the Delaware-Morrow County Mental Health Board.
Carol was a lifelong singer and was active in vocal groups and local theater presentations.
She was also active in the Trinity United Methodist Church Choir as well as serving as Chairlady of the Missions and Youth Services committees.
A Celebration of Life Service for Carol will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Mount Gilead, Ohio (Morrow County) at 1:00 p.m.
