KAHRS: NY & NJ Please Help!!

Hello,

My search for my KAHRS family started more then 4yrs ago. From the first day there has been a huge brickwall in place. Just recently I was able to remove a few of those bricks. I have located a marriage record for my GGrandfather HARRY CHRISTIAN KAHRS b Oct 8 1883. Of course this date may be off by a few years due to different documents. I have several census and a military registration as well as the marriage record I've just discovered. His marriage took place on Oct 16, 1910, at 35 Pineapple st. Brooklyn, NY. I believe @ the JOP, no church listed.
His place of residence at that time was OZONE PARK, LONG ISLAND, New York. Birthplace Germany. Parents as listed on Marriage record are GEORGE KAHRS & DOROTHEA KRUDOP. After marriage Harry moved to New Jersey and worked with his wife as an apartment manager in East Orange and then moved to PISCATAWAY, NJ where my grandfather George was born, their only child. They had also lived in Highland Park and Rariton. His wifes family was in the Bakery business and he may have been a special officer at track events. IE Horses, dogs and the like.

Now finding this record has been a major blessing. Family commentaries state that HARRY was not the best of men. He gambled, drank and chased women. How much of that is true ,we will never know. He left his family sometime in the early 1920's and has not been located since. Not even a death cert. Some say he went back to Brooklyn, others say he owed alot of money when the market crashed and either met his demise (sp) or re-invented himself somewhere. Maybe even remarried.

My problem here is that now that I have found this tiny straw, I can't find a darn thing on the internet. It seems like its all disappeared and I wasn't smart enough to save any info I found when I first started searching.

So I'm asking anyone out there who may have some background information on the KAHRS family name to please pass it along. I'm almost positive that I'll never find a connection, I can't even find an immigration record, but I'm not giving up yet. I can be emailed at: bnsilly@verizon.net

Thanks so Much,

Jodi Kahrs bnsilly@verizon.net
