Hi achristie. Just now finding your reply. Sarah and William are Lemmie Abner Sr.'s parents. He was their youngest child. My grandmother had a large oval portrait or William and Sarah in her house, which I believe my aunt has now. We tried to take a photo of it, but the bevelled glass interefered. I would gauge the photograph came from the 1920s. If you have Sarah's obit, I'd love to see it.
I have some information on all of their children, as well as William's daughter Martha from his first marriage to Sarah McFarland. Some of these people my aunt and father still remember.
I have info further back on the Kails to the 1650s. I also have some information on the Norville family (William's mother was a Norville) and on the Stamps family I have names back to the 1400s, but have had no time to separate the wheat from the chaff there. The McFarlands and the Rooks have several names on my tree as well.
Apparently the Kails, the Norvilles, the McFarlands, the Stamps, and the Randolphs all intermarried while in Haywood and later Crockett County. The names pop up every time I turn around.
