Hi! I'm attempting to track a line that's proving very difficult. I have only gotten to this one man and no further. His name is Josef, also spelled Jozef. He was born in Germany, Jan 16 early 1890s and died abt 1952. He arrived in about 1910 and had a wife named Clara Fries (spelling changes often) can anyone help with him or even possibly correct any info I may have?

Franz Kainz and Maria Aloisia Hofner

Hi -
I JUST found out that my great, great, great grandfather was Franz Kainz from what is called Autriche (I'm assuming is Austria). I am finding VERY little info on this side of my family so I'm trying to contact anyone I can to get help on this. This is what I have so far:

Franz Kainz (no dates)- married Theresia (no maiden name/no dates)daughter: Marianne Kainz (1785-1847 Autriche)
Her daughter, Maria Aloisia Hofner )1924-1988 Germany/Florida) (my grandmother)/married Allan D Burke (1925-1991 New York/Florida)
Their daughter Sylvia Jean Burke (1952 Germany)/married David L Deitze (1953 New York)
They had me Gretchen Maureen Deitze (1979 Kansas)

If anyone has any info on my relatives I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm so afraid a lot of it has been lost in WW2 but I'm trying to stay positive. Thanks,
Gretchen Deitze Buckalew
Atlanta, GA

Looking for information and/or contacts regarding Andreas Kainz (b. 09/1850) in Tadten, Wieselburg that married Anna Koppi (b. 01/14/1852 - Wallern)in 1876 at Wallern. Anna was the daughter of Jakob Koppi and Barbara Gerstl. The US Census lists country of birth as Hungary which I believe Wallern (part of the Burgenland) was Germany - West Hungary up until 1920/21 and then became part of Austria. There were 8 known children born to this union all here in the USA. I have some information about Anna's parents, but nothing on Andreas's. Hoping someone can help. Also, if you might have information on descendants that would be appreciated also.

Hi Johanne -

I came across something and had to race to the computer to reply! I have a letter dated: Montreal den 30 Oct. 1964 written in German (the old fashion, scribbly looking stuff) and signed: Famielie F. Richlich. It is on a piece of paper about the size of a post card. I will try to get find a scanner and have it sent to you but I will need your email. So yes, we are cousins in some fashion! Do you know anyone that reads old German writing? I have a stack of stuff that was my grandmother's. She died in 1968 and my mom was a pack-rat!

What's more interesting is I believe your Frank Richlich may have attended my mother's wedding in 1949. I have her scrapbook with the name M&M Frank Richlich - Canada. Were there any other Franz/Frank Richlich's that you know of?

Hi Gail,
Just trying to make some sense out of this. Am I right is saying that your great-great grandparents are Johann & Rosalia Krunckel. Franziska married Johann Kainz on Nov. 23, 1884 in Glitt, Solka, Bukovina.

If this is correct maybe you can tell me what the difference is between Glitt, Solka, Bukovina and Glitt Soceava bukovina which is what is found on my grandfathers passport.

Being from Detroit are you familiar with the Richlich in Michigan? If you what can you tell me about the eldest ones that you know.
Johanne
That's what was missing for me. I only had Johann & Francizska for the children of George and Anna Maria. So that is where Robert came from :) So is the Franz who was born in 1907 Robert's son? My line goes through Franz Richlich & Katherine Kainz to their son John Henry, my GGrand Father. Do you know the birth or death dates for Robert and subsequent children? Are you stumped on certain people I can maybe help you search for? Thank you for filling in that blank. It's nice to meet you, we must be cousins, I believe Gail and I figured that she and I are 3rd cousins once removed.

Let's see. This may help. You mentioned earlier that you went back to Georg Richlich (born 1779-died 1844)
he married on Nov 3rd, 1834 Anna Maria Baumgartner, they had Theresia born Oct 18, 1835 who married Andreas Schreiner. They had Mathelde, Barbara, Rosalia, Johann, Joseph, Srefan, Eduard, Albert Schreiner.

Georg may have remarried to unknown woman, they had Johann Richlich (born ?-died 1884)he married Rosalia Kruckel, They had Ludwig, Franziska, Franz, Robert, Aloisa, Katharina, Sigmund Richlich.

This Robert in my great-grandfather. Does this help at all?
If not ask away? I am sure together we will find it.

Is that right? Gail and I worked out our connection about a year ago, she has some wonderful pictures. One of Francizska. I have about 7 or 8 generations of the Richlich line but if your's is through Robert, I don't have it. Maybe we can help each other fill in blanks?

The more I look and find information, the more I want. Sorry Art Rich does not ring a bell. Have you tried looking on Familysearch.org. That is the first place that I found any information. Did not make the link then, that was 2 years ago. But I have found out so much more in the past year. Thanks for your help. Johanne

Hi - I don't know if you saw my post above. But your Robert Richlich is a brother to my great-grandmother Franziska Richlich.

You had mentioned in the other post about finding some Richlich's in Detroit and couldn't seem to find anything more. I am from Detroit. After my mother passed away, I found a business card on it in the name of Art Rich, my mother wrote a notation that he was cousin to my grandfather. Perhaps, some of the Richlich's followed him and had their name shortened?

Hello,
Actually you have confirmed everything that I already had. It is a direct hit. I am from the same line. As I mentioned to Gail, there doesn't seem to be any information on the Richlich once they came to Canada & continued their families there.

He & his sister Olga were here. They have since both passed away. He also brought over Anna Richlich Prosser's daughter.

I did find some more of them in the Michigan Detroit in the States. I am trying to figure out where the link to my family there is. In 1957 my grandfather did go visit some cousins there, Mom just doesn't remember their names.

Thanks in advance for any little piece that you can confirm of offer.
Johanne
Hello Gail,
We are talking about the same family. For some reason there is no mention of Franz Richlich (my grandfather) because he fled to Canada at a young age. I knew of most of names you mentioned including Engelbert, Heinrich, did not know about Adolf the two older girls.

I have found alot of the Richlich's that are in the State by way of Melissa data.com, but you also have to become a member to get their information.

I have seen the Bukovina Site and will be signing-up. thanks.

Hi Johanne,
I don't have a match for any of the names and dates you have. I'm sure that there is a connection somewhere down the line but it's not here. The Richlichs I have been able to trace start with George Richlich born 1779 Glitt,Solka,Bukovina. Married to Anna Maria Baumgartner born 1806 and their descendants.Have you looked into the Bukovina Society of the Americas? I found a ton of information on that site. If you haven't searched that one, it is a membership based archive but it's only $15 a year. Sorry I haven't been more helpful. Let me know if you have any more questions :)

Hello Angela,
After being knocked over by all the information found on this site, I still need more. You must have seen some of the info on this site. I am also a Richlich but in Canada.
Curious about all ancestors. You mentioned Anna Richlich, she was my grandfather Franz Richlich's younger sister. I know that she had 2 daughters one of which lives in Canada, would you happen to know who the other girl was? Any other info or dates of their immigration to the USA would be greatly appreciated. Does the name of Anna Schaffhauser mean anything to you or your mother?
Johanne

I am not sure about the year although when I look it up on the disc there may be a date with it . I believe it was taken in Grand Rapids in my grandparents home. I can't wait to get into this more thoroughly but I am leaving town for the weekend in about a half hour . I will be back probably on Sunday. If I can have your e-mail address then I can e-mail you directly when I get home . I'll send the photo and any other info I have and maybe we can work out a connection . Thanks again ! Have a great holiday weekend ! - Angie

Hi Angie - I'm suspecting we do have a common thread - especially if you have a record from Bukowina. My g-grandparents were Johan Kainz and Franziska Richlich. My grandfather Frank (Franz) and his brother ROBERT settled in Detroit, Michigan. That's were I live now. I have seen variations of the spelling of Richlich/Richlig. Also, when my mother passed away, I found a business card with the name Art Rich and a notation that it was my grandfathers cousin (probably changed his last name). Are you in Michigan?

Hi Gail . i know very little about my Richlich side but I went through some of my stuff and found a Michigan census record from 1920 . In it I have a John H. Richlich born around 1895 from Austria , Jennie his wife born around 1898 and their son Edmund born in 1919 in Michigan. It says that John immigrated here in 1912 . His parents were both from Austria . That is where I got stuck . Plus the picture of the cousin Kainz . It is probably unrelated but the census also lists a lodger named Katherine Lamneck ( Lamneek ? ) from Bukowina , Austria living with them at the age of 40 , she immigrated in 1911. Other than that I have some Richlichs born here from 1908 and later . Do you know what the name of your Great grandfather Kainz's wife was ? My mom remembers an Anna Richlich who she believes was Jennie's sister but is not sure. Hope we have a common thread here :) Thanks for replying . Angie

Do you have any information on Hannah Joann Marson born in 1829 in KY and married Peter Lampkins also born 1829. They had several children Henry C. Catherine, Bridget, Louisa, I don't have everything in front of me I think there was another child. They also raised 3 of their grandchildren, their last names were Hurbet. Any information would be appreciated. I have gone back to my gggrandparents Peter and Joann Lampkins. When Catherine was born her parents were listed as Peter Lampkins and Hannah Marson and then in the 1880 census she's listed as Joann Lampkins so I'm wondering if her name was Hannah Joann Marson. My ggrandfather is Henry C. Lampkins, grandfather Henry Harrison Lampkins father George Henry Lampkin. I would really like to know about my gggrandmother Hannah Joann Marson's family; her parents siblings their occupations etc.

I have a photo of him sitting with my grandma Richlich ( of Austrian descent ) and my grandfather McKellar . The photo lists him as cousin Robert Kainz - Germany . Does this sound familiar to anyone ?
