Surnames: Kalliangas
Here's the deal. My parents were born in Dafnonas Chios, both of them sharing the last name Sideratos.. (thats irrelevant.. ill get to my point) My mom's sister Angeliki Sideratos married Manolis Kalliangas .. i'm not misspelling the name .. some of his cousins spell it Calliangas and some spell it Calliagas.. check out the ny phone directory its loaded.. anyway my aunts husband had a 1st cousin named Kostis Calliangas who came to the states around 1915ish and settled in Texas married a non greek had a baby boy (this would have been in the '30's when his son was born)
and he was murdered.. since then my uncle has lost touch with him (for OBVIOUS reasons) and his son.. does this Kosti guy change his name to Kalagias is this person familiar to you all?
just curious, it is strange how there are not only spelling differences but major ones and I do beleive the names mostly have the same origin..
