I am responding to the following message by Darissa Linger. I would like to know how to get in touch with Drifter 1989 regarding the book you spoke of in your message I copied below. or else with your grandfather's cousin who has a copy of the book. Does anyone else have this book? Sandra Kahlbaugh Tome

Hi,
My name is Darissa Linger. My grandfather's name is William Nelson Kahlbaugh. His father's name was Alfred James Kahlbaugh. My decendants also come from Germany. I believe the last name was spelled Kahlbach as well. I have tried to finish my Family tree but I am having trouble determining who my ancestors are. My grandfather has a cousin with our entire family tree in a book. She was supposed to send that to him several months ago. You should contact him. He uses this site and I believe his username is drifter1989. Best of luck

Hello,

All my Kalbach ancestors came down from Berks, PA. My grandfather, Victor Shaw Kalbaugh had a brother named Aubrey. Their father was William Kalbaugh born in 1854. Their mother was Mary Pearce, Peerce, Perce born 1850, Bloomington, MD(all spellings apply)The name change from Kalbach to Kalbaugh came around the late 1700's. Philip Henry Kalbach (1775 Berks, Pa) was the last one I have using it and my first Kalbaugh was Michael Kalbaugh born 1814 also in Berks, PA. You may be from one of Aubrey's children.

My name is Sandra Tome. My maiden name is Kahlbaugh. My father was Percival Norwood or /Edward Kahlbaugh. William was his grandfather or great-grandfather (not sure which) and he is buried in Abbotstown, PA, on the square behind the old church, last row back. You can only read the name but the tombstone is very old. I would like to communicate with others who might be related.

Your posts to Ancestry date between 1999-2000. Are you still working on the Kalbach Genealogy Project. My husband's family has been traced back to Henry Kahlbach who came to Pennsylvania on 10 Oct 1752 on the ship Forest from Rotterdam. The line has been traced from PA to Tennessee where the name morphed to Colbough (Calbough) and then into Southern Illinois when it changed to Colboth (sometimes spelled Colbroth.) If you are still working on this project, I would be interested in making the connection to Adam Kalbach and your family. I sent an e-mail with the same text the the hotmail address in the first posting, but received an undeliverable message. Does anyone have any information on this project? Sincerely

Fran Marino Colboth
This may be a stretch, it is now 2009. My family name is Coolbaugh/not original spelling. My branch descends from John Coolbaugh who was a German to Lithuania with one of the two migrations precipitated by the Russians with offers of land to homestead. When he came to America in 1880 his name changed-not sure of exact Lithuanian spelling, it may have been Kulbokas/Kolbukas/Kuhlbokas. anyhow, the original family name was Kuhlbach/Kalbach from Germany originally. My great-grandfather John was a master carpenter and furniture maker-this seems to be the family's skill through the generations. If you have any info on this line I would appreciate it very much. They family lived in Pennsylvania since 1880-various patch town locations, finally settling in Simpson Patch in Duryea, Luzerne County. In addition to furniture making, my g-grandfather and several generations following made their living coal mining.

I am not sure if descendents of Christoph Keylbach who arrived in Philadelphia in September of 1749 on the ship, Patience, spell their name Kalbach or not. If so, and if you are interested, I have the record of Keylbach's property sale and manumission tax payment from records in Bodigheim, Baden, Germany prior to his departure. My ancestor, Johann Georg Baumann, was part of the same group from Bodigheim that traveled together. If interested, please contact me.

My G G Grandfather was Jesse Kahlbaugh (b. 1821-24 d. 1890) of Pennsylvania. He was married to Catherine Sower (possibly Sauer)(b.1829 d. 1904), and they had 14 children. Jesse's father was possibly named Andrew (b. 1787 +/-). His son George B. Kahlbaugh was my G Grandfather who married Delma Jones and had one son - Ralph, my grandfather.

I'm looking for any information about the Kahlbaugh lineage, but especially information about Jesse's siblings or other information about the emigration of Kahlbaugh's from Germany to the US.

Clayton and Webster lived in Roabesonia Pa, a town which William helped to found and was a member of the first town council.
There was only one child between the three brothers - my father Raymond Clayton who also lived his entire life in Robesonia PA. My brother Barry and me, Gerald, were the only children. My mother's name was Bertha.
Clayton married Sallie and Webster married Jenny Fortna.

According to the "The Compendium of American Genealogy, 1600s-1800s, Vol IV", Susanna Kalbach's parents were Adam Kalbach (d. 1801) and Anna Maria. Her paternal grandfather, is listed as Chistopher Kalbach, from Germany. According to this book, Christopher immigrated in 1750 and settled in Tulpehocken Twp., Berks County, PA. I am looking for any additional info on any of these folks. I have found another Susanna born to an Adam Kalbach, but she is not married to Anthony Dillman (b. 1832; d. 1820). Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Linda
Hi Chris,
I am not sure if you are still working on this Kalbach project but we may be able to help each other a bit. I am Kimberly Kalbach. One of 4 children (Karen, Lane, Kimberly, and Kara). My father's name was Kenneth Lane Kalbach (B-8/25/42 D-8/16/69). He had one sister named Patricia Kalbach Werner-Walenta. Due to my fathers early death and the fact that I was 3 yrs old, I do not know a whole lot about this side of my family. My mother's name is Mary Ann (Link) Dissinger,Kalbach,Cyran,Brunner. (she's had a few husbands...lol). My grandparents were Elsie (Lane) and Cyril Kalbach. I only know that my grandfather was a professional baseball player in the farmhouse leagues. His father's name was Aubrey Kalbach. This is all I have. I hope it helps. Perhaps you can offer me some information. Oh yeah, my family is all from Berks County (Reading PA). I hope to here from you or ANYONE who may read this. Thank you

My father, Stanley C., was named after Stanley Klopp of Bernville,PA by his mother,Blanche Kalbach.
My prudential insurance agent told me there was another Stanley Kalbach living in Upper Darby.
What else do you want to know? Do you have any stories of Kalbach heroism, bravery, courage,Etc.? Civil war stories would be best. But fathering ten Children is great in my book.
Don't know how long I'll be able to frequent this board.
Sincerely,
Stanley, father of two sons & two daughters.
