I am the grand daughter and of Francis Kaley. She is buried in Warrior Cemetery. My grandfather was Kenneth Reimer, who is buried next to her. My mother is Susan Reimer, who married my father Thomas Parson. My father passed away in 2010, and is also buried in the Warrior Cemetery next to our cousins, the McLaughlins.Lou Kaley was the sister of my grandmother, and a part of the McLaughlin family. I know when visiting Warrior Cemetery, there are many stones from the early 1800's that are no longer legible, even two twin babies. I would love to learn any additional information someone has on my family the Kaley's

Marta, I know this is an old post, but hopefully you'll get this.... I guess I'm a cousin of your husband. My 3G grandparents were Peter Kaley and Mariah (or Maria) Reinoehl. I descend form John's sister Mary Ann Kaley. If you have more information on this family, I'd love to hear from you.

Hi Kevin,

Please tell me a little more about your Kaleys. Do you know which European country your Kaleys came from? Do you know what part of Pennsylvania they lived in before migrating to North Carolina and Alabama? Anything else you could tell me would be helpful. My ancestors name was Caley, but I have been doing a little research on your Kaleys and have found a few things you might be interested in, but would like more information to make sure I am on the correct track. Thanks, Reba

I'm searching for James Kaley and Edith Hartman, who lived in Indiana. James died in a railroad accident around the turn of the 20th century; Edith re-married Otto Hartmann (no relation.)

James and Edith had 1 son and 2 daughters. I believe they lived in Osgood and/or Seymour, Indiana.

Thanks a lot for the info! Maybe this will help me find out more about his/her past in PA. I believe he may have been from PA.

For those that are interested, I have also found an 1851 census for Morthoe, Devon County (Southwest), England; I have no idea if it's the same Elizabeth. This one was 16 in 1851, so that could be her (although it conflicts with the last link that I give below???). Here's the link; use Ctrl+F to find "Elizabeth Conibear":

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~bewickgenealogy/cen...

This next link shows an "Elizabeth FNU" with children, one of which matches my grandfather, Jake Kaley (I believe that the DOD agrees with his passing):

http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=DESC&db=lorene...

The next link (an 1880 census in Warrior, AL) shows a John C. Kaley born to Jacob and Elizabeth. This link shows Elizabeth with a DOB~1844; the first link (above) would give her a DOB of 1835??? It also shows Jacob having parents of PA origin:

http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=lorenej...

If anyone in PA can shed some light on Jacob Kaley's origins, I would appreciate it.

Thanks again!

Denise,
Are you part of the Kaley or Stair family, yourself, or are you tracking for the sister Eva's family?
Dad thinks one of his grandmother's sisters was named Eva. His grandmother, Ophelia Kaley Yates died in 1956. Lucretia & Mr. Worden died before my great grand-parents. I met some of their off-spring, as a child.
I am trying to trace my ancestry, as well. I can find out the dates of both of those couples by going to the cemetery in Hemet.
Can you share some info. with me?
My grandmother was the child of John & Ophelia. Her older sister was born & died in 1895-living only about 10 days. Her name was Lucy Elizabeth.

My family connection is through the Stair side. My Stair ancestor was an older half-sister of Elizabeth Stair. Elizabeth's parents were John Stair and Catharine (Butler?), whereas my ancestor's (Catherine Hester Ann Stair) mother was Elizabeth Lanius, John's first wife. I have decided to gather as much info about the Stair siblings as possible, so I have quite a bit. Maybe you should contact my email directly so we can pass along what we have.

In regards to Lucretia (and Henry W. Worden), I have that Lucretia was born about 1848 (in Ohio) and Henry about 1842 (in Vermont), married 10/13/1869, and children from the census reports: Mogan E., Orrin, Mary E., and Lucrecia R.

For your direct Stair ancestor (Ophelia) I have that she was born in Lucas County, OH, 3/1863, and John Yates was born in England, 4/1856, married about 1895. This is all from census reports. The only child I saw on the 1900 census was Margarette, born 12/1896. Might this be your grandmother?

Please contact me whenever you get a chance...
Denise (dlsessler@earthlink.net)

I just posted a message on this board asking about this family! A distant relative of Elizabeth/Eva Stair's wrote a letter to her niece about this family which I just learned about. In her letter she only mentions the children (all daughters?) as: Lucretia Uviden, Mrs. Wales, Mrs. Brindley, Mrs. Babcock, and Ophelia Kaley.

Would one of the unnamed married daughters be the Eva you have mentioned? Do you know anything about any of the other children?

Let's try to compare notes.

I am trying to find anyone who knows about the family of Abraham & Elizabeth/Eva (Stair) Kaley. I know that they were married in Richland County in 1843. A distant relative has written of this family and their children, but only specifically named 2 or the 5 daughters. The other 3 are just listed as their married names: Ophelia Kaley, Lucretia Uviden, Mrs. Wales, Mrs. Brindley, and Mrs. Babcock.

I am not sure this family remained in Richland County after the marriage. The rest of the Elizabeth's family travelled on to Fulton County, Ohio a couple of years after this marriage took place.

Please respond if you recognize any of the above names. Thanks!
Denise

You mentioned your great grandfather as being William Jefferson Kaley from Illinois and from what I have gathered in my family tree, my gr gr grandfather Andrew Kaley had a brother named William J. Kaley. I am assuming that the J always was the initial for Jefferson as his father's name was Jefferson Kaley. I am wondering if this is the same William who is a brother to my Andrew. My Kaley's were located in Fayette County, Illinois. Also, one other interesting note is that while searching the 1870 census in Fayette County, I came across a Henry Kaley only 8 years old and living with a Fred Harnick. If any of this sounds familiar, could you please contact me. I would love to share our information. Thank You, Amy

Hello,

I don't know if this is the same line that I am looking for or not. My gr gr grandfather was Andrew Kaley and his marriage license application says he was born Oct., 1855 in Canal Fulton, Stark County, OH. He lists his father as John who was supposed to have been born in Pennsylvania. He doesn't list his mother. However, Andrew has a brother named William and he lists his father as Jefferson and his mother as Louisa Sproull and they were married April 8, 1858. I have found some confirmation of William residing in the same household as Jefferson but have been unable to connect Andrew with Jefferson so far. Jefferson also says that he was born in Pennsylvania and I found he is buried in Fayette County, Illinois and Andrew is buried in Coles County, Illinois. Anyway, if you have any other information you could share with me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
Amy Minix HennyPenny68@yahoo.com

Kahley

I can only offer an interesting anecdote from my memory as a 3 - 4 year old sitting on my Grandfather Walter Kiley's knee, circa 1942, in Avon Mass. He told me my misspelling of Kiley as Kaley and Kahley was the old spelling before the ancestors moved from County Cork, Ireland, to the Boston, Mass. area. The journey was via Canada (Prince Edward Island I heard later)and several family siblings move to the Boston Area about the same time, circa 1870 - 1890.
My Father, born 1904, was named Harmon James Kiley - both given names were those of prior Kiley, Kaley or Kahley relatives. I've just recently started tracing my Kiley geneology
- and would be interested in any ties you may have discovered between Kiley, Kaley, or Kahley.
Bobkiley@aol.com

Kaley - Washington Boro, PA

Grant:
My grandmother's (May Kauffman (Brown)) Aunt Adeline (maiden name Kauffman) married a Kaley from Washington Boro. It was my understanding that my grandmother visited her Kaley relatives in Governor, NY when she was young. Please contact me at e-mail grcsdc@desupernet.net to exchange family tree info if from the same family.
