I'm from Switzerland and my grandfather, who's name was also Kälin, came from Einsiedeln, canton Schwyz. There are still a lot of Kälin in this region and spread in whole Switzerland. Even one of the founder of Switzerland was named Kälin. So if you want to know the origin of this surname you surely have to consider Einsiedeln.
