Carl M. Kalinowski, 89 of Erie ,pa,
died Saturday March 26, 2011 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Erie January 5, 1922 son of the late Konstanty and Frances Pokorski Kalinowski. Carl was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran of World War II. He retired from the City of Erie Police Department as Sergeant after 32 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrow - St. Casimir Church, and he enjoyed working in his garden. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Frank Kalinowski. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Theresa Kownacki Kalinowski, daughter Diane Hunter and husband John of Erie, grandchildren Lauren Hunter and David Hunter, nephew John Kalinowski, niece Lori Duska, and sister-in-law Virginia Duska. Friends may call at the Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home Inc. 2101 Ash St. on Monday 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and may attend a service there Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Sorrow - St. Casimir Church at 10 a.m. Etombment will be in Mary Queen of Peace Mausoleum with full military honors.
