Looking for any one knowing any information about Agafhia Kalmakoff

My name is Carl Gronn: and I am looking for any information on my mother Agafhia Kalmakoff she once married to a Anderson, Hanson, and the last one was Nels Gronn he was from Oslo Norway, but my mother was from: Ageshek, Alaska but they have changed the name to now: Pilot Point Alaska.
So if anyone knows anything on Agaphia Kalmakoff I would be very interested in hearing about her! Thank you

Hoping you would return my messages. There appears to be two Alex Kalmakoffs, or they are one in the same. The one I am researching is from the Kanatak Village, born 1928 AK and died 1983 AL-she married Harold Jackie Collier, SR. I would like to exchange anything that may correct the confusion.

I've noticed all of the post for Kalmakoffs and those I've sent messages to have not returned any information. I am researching Alexanderin Sassa Kalmakoff, born May 6 1928 and died Jun 13 1983. I've seen Alexandria Sasha Kalmakoff and thought maybe they are the same. My Alex's name comes off of a birth certificate where I have verified the spelling, along with the SSDI. She is my aunt's mother (aunt by marriage) and I am doing research for her family. I found the same picture of this woman in 1941 and my cousin looks just like her. I have all of her children and grandchildren listed. I was told her father's name was Nicholi and her mother was Julia Anne or Julianne. I do know that they are Aleut. Anyone who can help, please do.

I am researching my Aunt's Kalmakoff line for her (she is married into the family). The strange coincidence is that her mother's name is Alexanderine Sassa Kalmakoff. I know this isn't a type-o because I've seen her birth certificate. I am having a hard time locating other relatives of this line (Aleut). I have no other info, aside from Alex's spouse and children. I was told her mother died when she was born or an infant; and her father was murdered when she was 7 or 13. My Alex was born 6 May 1928 and died 13 June 1983, as Alexanderine Collier (w/o Harold Jackie Collier). Any help you can lend would be appreciated.

I've replied to your other post. I am researching this very branch. Alex has 7 of her 11 children still living. One of her daughters is my aunt through marriage. I have contact info and recent pictures=willing to exchange info for info.

Your grandmother, of it is the same, is Alexanderine Sassa Kalmakoff, who married Harold Jackie Collier. She went by Alex. I am researching the same for one of her daughters, Marlene, who is my aunt by marriage. Hopefully, this post isn't too late for you. Reply for exchanges.

My dad was able to pick up any instrument and play it. Accordian, guitar,harmonica, banjo, mandolin. I think music was a big part of our family. Also if you are interested in the alutiiq culture you can check out the Kodiak museum on the internet. It is very interesting. Who did you say your mother was?

i spoke to rose d a few years back. she is the one who told me all about fedor. does anyone even know how many children & families he went on to have. am i correct that he had like 11children or eleven families from alaska to canada.

im having technical difficulties at work, so right now i have some time to try to look up the marathon. & any reference to 'looking both ways',

are the kalmakoff very artist? after meeting each other, we found that we all have the same taste & decorating & artistic skills, not to bragg but i can dance & sing pretty good, i played the accordian & the flute, then in mid school, went on to sing in the school & church choir, our jr. hi school chorus won our all-city's too. my son has a great ear for music, he graduated 'audio technology' which is all about the music programs & beats. a few years back- 2000ish- the discovery channel had amazingly alot of shows about alaska. there was one where they showed the aleuts dancing, i fell in love with the regalia, they can dance too, differently & better than the tribal dances i have seen in lower48. i have always been obsesses with black & red & i think i can remember seeing tribal things & being wrapped in suede as a baby- i have an undying obssession with how it feels.

we are very spiritual people, and we know that we have all met before. we remembered each other, at our first meetings.

any info regarding talents, skills & beliefs would be greatlly appreciated.

I don't have any pictures. I do know Ilane from Chignik. Her grandmother was Sasha. I barely remember hearing about Rose.Rose D. another cousin knows more about the older cousins.

do you remember her? us 3 of rose's children were adopted out. i have reunited recently with 'pene' born 'verna' to tatiana, who was also adopted out along with another sister that we are still looking for. my sister once years ago made contact with mary riblet- who was adopted out too, do you know who she is? my sister & i were raised as only children. we have 1 picture of rose, we have her eyes- eyebrows & her nose kinda, i think i really have her cheeks. its hard to tell since we are mixed. my son has this crazy blonde& brown hair that i just love to death. my hair is a nice kind of brown too, that is uncommon down here. my sister just made contact with someone up in chignik i think. named ilane. do you know her? i could go on & on, but have to get to work. looking forward to hearing from you again, have a great day!!!!!

Tatiana was my Dads sister. They had a large family. Their parents were Inokenty and Varvara Kalmakoff. You will find an article on Inokenty if you look up seward marathon. also some of the peers were Artemie, Sasha who is (Alexandria) Zoya,Tatiana,Marina,Gustia (Gus) who is still living. Polly who is still living. There was also John,there was one nicknamed "Jumbo" can't recall his real name.Its been so long since I had to recall names. Maybe I'll think of more today. Anyway, tell me about you. I come from a large family too. I had 9 brothers and two sisters. years ago, i found an artemie kalmakoff on the internet. i vaguely remember, but the picture showed him with salmon (sasha's too)in th background. he must have been in the news paper for his fishing skills. there was also a separate picture of his daughter or grandaughter, pretty girl, is that you? i remember she had cheeks like ours.

I know the Stepanoff's from Chignik and I am from the Kalmakoff family. I believe she said she was related to Sasha. She was my aunt.

my biological grandmother was tatiana kalmakoff, from chignik, ak & i have heard reference to a place called chugach or new chugach, that may just be an old street- not sure.

tatiana married george stephanoff & had some children, the names i kknow are:

vicki

george ?

there's another son, but i can remember his name.

You might also want to google a book called "Looking Both Ways" you will see other people from the Chignik area and also my Dad Artemie from Ivanof Bay. I don't recall a George Kalmakoff. I do know there is a George Stepanoff.

You might wanna google Sasha Kalmakoff also. there is a picture of her in 1941 that was pretty neat to see. Which family did you come from? who is your mother etc. this is pretty amazing to find family. My grandpa's name was Innokenty. my dad was Artemie. I have 9 brothers and 2 sisters. We also have a lot of extended family.

The Kalmakoff's you are asking about are from the Chignik area. Most of them now live in the Anchorage area. Your cousin Rose is also my cousin. :)

The Kalmakoff's in Alaska are many. My great great grandfather was Fedor Kalmakov from Tabolsk (???) Siberia.
