Helen Kalota age 86, of W4672 Hwy H, Chilton died on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005 at Calumet Homestead in New Holstein.
She was born on Oct. 29, 1918 in Burlington, Wis. daughter of Joseph and Lottie Sobczak.
Helen married Frank Kalota on May 29, 1938 in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1975.
She worked with her husband on the family farm, Eagle Knitting, and also was a dietary aide at St. Luke's Hospital. Helen retired at the age of 62.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Parish. She loved gardening, sewing, knitting and most of all taking care of her children.
She is survived by her children, Robert Kalota of Chilton, Carol (David) Erb of Valders, and Pat (Gary) Smith of Saukville; a daughter-in-law, Alice Kalota of New Holstein; nine grandchildren, Tony Kalota, Mitch (Joan) Kalota, Michelle (Vern) Gleason, Neil (Carmen) Korpal, Lisa (Floyd) Bissonette, Lorri Perl, Kelly (Cary) Coots, Rebecca and Sarah Smith; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Sylvia Roedel, Irene Sternik and Virginia (Leo) Reed; a brother, Edward (LuAnn) Sobczak; and two sisters-in-law, Vernell Sobczak and Bernice Sobczak. She was also preceded in death by a son, Frank Kalota and a grandchild, Matthew Korpal.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, at Good Shepherd Parish in Charlesburg. Burial will be in St. Adelberts Cemetery in Milwaukee. Friends may call at Wieting Family Funeral Home 411 W. Main St. in Chilton from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, and again on Friday morning from 10 until 11 a.m. when family prayer will be held. A parish vigil will be at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening.
