There appear to be at least two families of Kaltz's in Michigan. One is centered in the Detroit area and have many descendents. Another was located in Van Buren/Allegan Counties. As far as I am aware, they are not related this side of Germany. My maternal lineage hailed from Bieren, Prussia. My ggrandfather immigrated with his family in 1881 and settled near
Allegan. As my grandfather, George matured, he lived in Allegan, Galesburg, and owned a tourist camp in South Haven, which once saw Pretty Boy Floyd as a resident. George's father John purportedly drowned in the Black River. I am still trying to find an obit on this. He is buried at Lakeview Cemetery, but since I live out of state, it is diffilcult to get any info on this. My grandfather is buried in Antwerp Township at the Maple Grove Cemetery near Mattawan. He had three children from a previous marriage. I have been unsuccessful in locating any of them. Perhaps they left the state?
