Hi Kevin,
Sorry it has taken so long. I didn't find a Felix Kaminski listed in the Grand Rapids City Directory (like our phone book now) for the years 1896-1912 (this is the only info. I have of the history of this name in G.R.). Did he go by a different name? I found a 'Frank' (1896-1912) and a 'Charles' (1899) and the names I am researching, John Sr. and Jr. (1896-1912). I haven't searched through the 1913-present years yet. Do you know when they lived in Grand Rapids? Were Helen Janowiak Kaminski's relatives from G.R.? I'm sorry I couldn't find anything more. I will keep my eyes open for you! Let me know if you need any more help!

Cathy,
I posted this reply to another thread on this board last night, but it was very far down the thread, so I want to be sure you see it.

I am also researching Kaminskis that settled in New Britain, which is where my husband grew up, and his family still lives there. His Kamiskis are also supposed to be from Mysieniec.
Do you know of any siblings for Walenty? Or other Kaminski relatives around NB?
I was searching the Ellis Island database recently and found what looks to be our family - mother Mariana with children Alexander and Stanislaw going to join her husband Adam in NB, but there was a Walenty with them (17 in 1907)and I had never heard that there was a Walenty in this line. They were all born in Lasko.
Stanley was my husband's grandfather and his grandmother is still as sharp as a tack. I will have him ask her about Walenty.

They were all born in Lasko.
Stanley was my husband's grandfather and his grandmother is still as sharp as a tack. I will have him ask her about Walenty.

Would like to connect with anyone researching the surnames Braun or Buchholz/Bucholski from Osterode. My ggrandfather was Frederick (Fritz) Buchholz or Bucholski, born abt 1859 in Osterode. He married Anna Henriette Kuhnast from the town of Neidenburg circa 1880. Had brothers, Adam and others, sisters unknown. Their mother was a Braun...maybe Anna. Any help would be appreciated.

I checked the "Diamond Julibee St Mary's 1874-1949" book. There are no other Kaminski photos. However, there is a page titled:
"My Jubilee Offering Towards the Painting of the Church"
$5.00
Wanda Kaminski
Leonard Kamsinki
Thomas Kaminski

There is a page written mostly in Polish listing founders of the parish. It includes the name of Andrzej Kaminski.

There is another page dedicated to this who served in the armed forces. it lists Antoni Kaminski.

There is an article titled Poles in Civil Life in Blossburg, PA written by Adam Kaminski. It states "The list of those in public life at present follows: . . . Coal Mining, Adam Kaminski . . . "

There are unlabeled photos of children at the school, children receiving first communion, etc - ca 1909-1914. Unfortunately, there's no way to tell who is who.

If I spot a Kaminski name anywhere else in the book, I'll let you know. Do you think any of these people were your ancestors? Have you gone to the following URL to search: http://www.pgsa.org/Jubilee.php
Here is the link for all their different on-line databases:
http://www.pgsa.org/database.php

The timing is right but I only know about my great great grandfather's name as Andrej and his wife Marianna. I know that his brother Anthony was younger than him and that they came from Posnan-my great grandfather's wedding certificate. I don't know the year that Andrej was born.
Oh wait, On one of my great grandfather's earlier papers, He is listed as Antoni, although Antek is the Polish for Anthony. Have you found anything with Antoni?
Ahh, this is so frustrating for both of us.
Posnan was considered to be German from time to time.

by the way, where was your family from in the states? We are from the Philadelphia, PA and Camden- Cherry Hill areas in New Jersey. I know that my Great Great grandfather stayed with a Maternal uncle until he settled with his brothe and sister in another home.
Eileen

I think that I am not related at all. I was looking for Maciej Kaminski who came to US from Poland and most important who was a soldier of general Haller's Army. On Ancestry.com I found Carrie, Joe, Victor, but then I spoke with a member of this family and I have been told that Maciej Kaminski, father of Carrie, etc, was never a soldier of gen. Haller's Army fighting in WWI?
Concluding, I found wrong Maciej Kaminski. My Maciej Kaminski has enrolled to Haller's Army in 1917 in Chicago and then he returned to USA from WWI in 1921 or 1922.

I got a little eager when I read Victor Kaminski, but unfortunately mine is from the Philadelphia area. If you are finding any, it's probably for mine. My great-grandfather Victor married Sophie Rodziewicz in Philadelphia. If you come across any of theirs (specifically Sophie's parents) I would be greatly appreciative. I also will be on the look out for yours. I did go on the Ellis Island website, and came across a Kaminski (possibly Victor, I don't fully recall) that came here from Europe and en route to the Chicago area. He had been here once before while visiting Stanislaw (I think). Hope that helps, if you didn't already know that.

Rosalynne Kaminski

I have a copy of Mary Spotanski Kaminski's obit that says she had 4 children: Nellie Lonowski, Alvin, and Teresa Sekutera and a son, Frank, who died previous to her. I have more information that I received from my mother back in the late 1970's. My desktop PC is in the shop and I am not able to scan anything at this time. If you like, send a message to liske42@gmail.com telling me what info you have and I will try to fill in some blanks.

I was a high school freshman when Nellie's youngest son, John was a senior, but I don't know the rest of the children.

Maxine

Hello,

I am glad to hear from you. The information I have for my Kaminski line comes from The John family book, the Lonowski family book, having talked with one cousin, and from the nebraska census for 1880 and state for 1885.

John Kaminski I found with his family in the 1885 and 1880 censuses.
The family was as follows:
John Kaminski (b: 1840 Poland/Russia) and wife Victoria (b: 1841 Poland/russia), they came over in 1870 or 1871 depending on the census.

The children were
John F 1874 Penn
Anthony 1866 Poland
Vincent 1869 Poland
Michael 1873 Penn
peter 1881 Neb
William 1880 Neb

1880: Database online. Kelso, Howard, Nebraska, ED 141, roll T9_750, page 562.4000, image 0570.
1885:
Database online. Kelso, Howard, Nebraska, ED 141, roll T9_750, page 562.4000, image 0570.

My ancestress, Victoria, was a daughter of John F. Kaminski.
I have information from my trip to the Polish Historical Society in Sherman or Howard Cty Nebraska and my trips to the sherman and Howard county court houses. Most of my info is for the four eldest children, and nearly none for Peter. I do have a copy of Peter's marriage license which lists the parents names both the bride and the groom. I do not have any information about Peter's children. I do know that my father was named for Nellie's husband, who was a favored uncle of his father, Melvin, son of Louie, son of John Lonowski.
I'm sorry I cannot be more helpful, as I do not have access to Ancestry's censuses at this time.

FYI: If you are a cousin through my grandfather Melvin Lonowski, then I should tell you that I've been researching the family lines and can extend back pass John and Susan for a few generations in Poland, including a Larchick family book researched by an in-law to our cousins on that line. Let me know if your interested in that information as well. Use my ancestry name @yahoo.com to contact me for more information.

Sincerely,

Jennifer

Hello, I read tonight about the Victoria Kaminski you have listed as born in Elba, NE. My grandmother, Nellie (Kaminski) Lonowski, was also born in Elba, daughter of Pete & Mary (Spotanski) Kaminski. I have absolutely nothing about Pete & Mary's children and am hoping that the Victoria will be a connection. Help?? I have limited info from Pete & Mary going back...and rom Nellie (Kaminski) Lonowski forward that I would be willing to share.

My grandfather was Antoni Kaminski born June 6, 1890 in village of Nowinka, Parish of Szebra in Poland. He died December 24, 1953. He was to have a large family of 17??? with a brother Victor another 1 or 2 brothers that settled in St. Paul, Minnesota and were policeman. I do not know if they were older or younger and even what their names were. From a letter that I have there was an Edward in Poland. Victor went to Canton, Ohio than to Detroit had 4 sons with 3 dying and 1 following to Detroit name Edward now deceased. Edward stayed with a Kaminski family ?? and Rose Kaminski. Rose and ?? Kaminski had a son that became a priest that changed name to Father Stone??? I do not know how true except my mother who is alive has made mention of this to me.

My grandfather Antoni's parents were and Andrew Kaminski and mother was Elizabeth Kaminski nee Szczesna.

Is any of this information relavent?
