Kamping genealogy

Greetings. I have researched my Kamping family line and discovered that my great-grandfather, Rudolph Kamping, emigrated to the US from Burgsteinfurt, Germany, in the 1850s. I was wondering if anyone knows whether there was a large-scale emigration of Kampings from Germany to The Netherlands? I notice that there are a lot of Kampings in Holland and was just wondering if they originally came from Germany. Thanks for any information!

Hello,

My name is Johan Kampen, I live in Amstelveen. One of my ancestors was Harm Kamping. He came from Erm ( Sleen ), he married in 1738 in Borger. A son of him was Jan Kamping. Jan married in 1774 in Winschoten. A son of Jan Kamping was Abel Popko Kamping. Abel Popko took under the Napoleon decree on surnames Kampen as familyname. That is why my name is Kampen now.

I try to find out wich Kamping's are related to my family.

Thanks for responding.

Johan Kampen.
