Our family line is descended from a Gustavus Kaneaster who came from Germany, possibly with his brother, and eventually settled in Virginia in the Fredricksburg area.
His son, John Henry, was married to a Sarah Elizabeth Eldrige and moved to TN when his son Reuben, my ancestor, was six years old. John Henry is buried just across the line at Cohutta GA. Reuben married a Paulina "Perline" Henderson and settled in Polk Co. TN. During this time, he served as a local magistrate for many years and held other offices. He was a county school supt. and the local school was built on his land. He had two sons, Augustus "Gus" Kanester and Franklin "Pillow" Kanester. F.P. became a teacher and went on to be a very successful businessman and local politician. Gus fought in the Civil War and was a farmer and stock breeder. His family left TN and relocated in Oklahoma. One of his sons relocated to Canada, a daughter in New Mexico, and another son wound up in California. If this sounds like it could be your family, let me know and I will try to get you more detailed information.
