I am one of the Oklahoma descendants of the large family group who left Tennesee and settled in Custer Co. OK. Many of them are buried at Custer City. The males mostly moved their families to Canada and New Mexico and the female line's names changed so you won't find that name around there. I am from the line that starts with Gustavus, either born or emigrated from Hamburg Germany abt. 1745(Although I have seen another source with slightly different info!). I have seen his son John Henry's birthday listed as 1767 and 1790 making me wonder if these weren't two generations instead of the same person. Anyway, I am descended from Reuben, born 1806, and Perlina (Pauline) Henderson who were married in Sevier county and moved to Polk County. My ancestor is his son Augustus Leonadus who lived in Polk Co. and amassed a good estate and large family, then moved enmasse with most of his offspring and possibly a sibling or two to settle in Oklahoma when they were giving away free land. His daughter Janette Kanester Bates was my gg grandmother. If you think this group might be your family and you have any names to check, let me know and I'll see if I can help or direct you. His son Tillman moved on to New Mexico and eventually to CA where he died. This would have put the family on the west coast, anyway. I have recently been in touch with one of the TN&GA group and one of the Canadian group so maybe one of us might be of help. The Canadians were the ones with the book and I used to have a copy, but some things were stolen in a move and I'm not sure if it was among it.
