I am the genealogist for a new series on Channel Four called Extraordinary Ancestors. One of the families I am investigating is a Kannenberg family and I wonder if anyone has heard of the particular ancestors in question.
Charles Ludwig William Kannenberg was a doctor of medicine in Prussia. His son Charles Robert Kannenberg was born in Prussia on 28 October 1846. Charles Robert was shipwrecked on the coast of Ireland and met and married Ellen Margaret Magilton in or near Killyleagh, Ireland on 19 October 1872 and died in South Africa on 20 November 1912. His children, who were born in Ireland, were:
Margaret Henrietta Louise 1876.
William Gustav 1878.
Robert Hugh 1880
Frederick Charles 1882.
Adelaide Mathilda 1883.
Ernest Ludwig 1884.
a son 1886
Thomas Henry 1888
and twins, August Theodore and Oswald Victor, 1889.
Charles Roberts ancestors were supposedly Prussian surgeons of some high repute. If anyone has any knowledge of this family I would love to hear from you!
With many thanks,
