I can't believe that i did not respond. It was there in front of my face and I did not see it until I got it last year. then I was trying to understand the various branches of it. the Myer and if that connected to ours. The Bartels and how they connect to mine.I guesws i wante to eventually see if they are all one family or if they are two separate families of Bartel and Meyer. I haven't establsihed much on that.
I did look into the family tree site and see that your kanning in Martin county is indeed connected to mine. My connection.... not a direct bloodline going down to me...not like that. The Nahnsen relatives of ours had marriages with schroders, zeitz and variious others who married with the Kannings. The Richard [ diietrich ]Kanning resides in iowa and I correspond with him now and then. Some of my fathers favorite people. Is there Strombergs in the tree. I hope I recalled the correct surname.
isn't there a off shoot there in Martin county that involve Knutson and jensen, fhlors?

Ferdinand

From FamilyTreemaker.com Rose Wandler b. May 15, 1913 in ND, died Aug. 20, 1959 in Montana, married Fredrick Ferdinand "Fred" Kanning IV, 1933, son of Fredrick Ferdinand Kanning III. (Look up Kanning in World Tree)
My father, Ernest Kanning II, b. 1907, Minnesota, claimed they were our Montana relatives. (Then my father died!) I will pursue that some time. I also saw in FamilyTreemaker.com Fredrick F. Kanning b. 1866 in Germany ( 2 of them) on familysearch.org.
More history: My uncle is Fredrick Richard Kanning, and their father is Ernest Henry Kanning (not Herman), b. 1873, Nienburg. My ggrandfather is Fredrick Kanning, b. 1827, Nienburg, and his father is Johann Dietrich Kanning b. 1795. Behlingen, Germany, and his father is Johann Cord Kanning b.1764, Lemke, Germany. That's as much as we know now.
Does anything sound familiar? Who are your ancestors?
