Many descendants of Thomas Kaple and Jane Dixon who immigrated from Ireland(Armaugh) to Boston in the 1720's live throughout Conn, and all of New York State. Thomas and Jane aka Jennie.....married in 1747 in North Stonington, Conn.--had 13 or so children and then many migrated from there to Otsego County, New York into the Decatur Township area. Thomas died 24 Aug 1801 and is buried in the Decatur Cemetary; Jane died 29 Mar 1821 and is also buried in the Decatur Cemetary. She was 102 years at her passing and 5 generations of her descendants attended her funeral. She spun linen thread for the clothes of Gov. Trumbull of Conn.; she was loved by her family for her devotion to family and her ability to do alot with nothing ....and her handiwork is one of her many specialities. Some of their descendants still live in that area...but many of us live all over NYS and beyond. I am descended from their son, John Kaple(REV WAR) who married Sarah Richardson......their son Orlando(WAR OF 1812) married Polly Flint(daughter of Joseph Flint and Molly Hartwell)of Worcester Co.,Mass........this couple traveled--walked...to Alfred, Allegany County, New York. Their son, Orlando Elijah Phelps Kaple married Rhoda Janette Lanphere in 1839 in Alfred, NY. Their son Charles Henry Kaple/Caple married Mary Elizabeth Perkins(dau of DR Paul Perkins and Harty Boone who came from Berlin,NY) ; they had three children - Giles, Paul and Agnes- who were raised in Elm Valley, NY by their mother Mary(a school teacher) after the tragic farm accident that resulted in Charles's death. I descend from Giles Herbert Caple and Clarissa Maude Howland; both of these families lived in the Andover, New York area and many descendants do today.

After seeing all the sites for Caple families and no Kaple information here I thought it appropriate that some of the Kaple / Caple families of our lines be listed. Some of the Kaple descendants changed the spelling to Caple in the generation of Charles and his brothers.
