I am looking for any information or help with the family of Peter Kappes, who immigrated with his wife Babette (Barbara), his son Philip, his daughter Babette (Barbara), and his daughter Maria (Mary). The sailed from Hamburg to NYC, arriving 3 Oct 1860. They settled in Cincinnati, where Peter and Philip worked until the 1890s or early 1900s.
Mary, my 2nd great grandmother, married Paul F. Trinkner in 1868 and lived out her life in Cleveland.
I know that the family came from Baden, but I know nothing else about their origins. The maiden name of Peter's wife, Babette, was likely Simmon or Simmons. Both Babettes changed their names to Barbara when they came to the US. My ancestor, Mary, was probably born as Anna Maria Kappes.
