Hi Karen,

I think this is becoming the Mikridge Message Board! haha. If our dates are correct, Andrew left Austria the same year that Theresa was born (10/30/1886). She died 9/14/91. John and Theresa Mikridge Karasinski had 6 children. Michael(CT), Stephen(VT), Peter(died in infancy), Hellen(my mother, WA), Alexander(VT) and Julia(CT). Their ages range from about 75-86 now. Can you clear up some confusion? Both my grandparents said they were born in Austria, but they were Russian, were members of the Russian Orthodox Church, but the language they spoke sounded closer to Polish than Russian. What language did Andrew speak? You mentioned that Andrew was a great gardener. Theresa didn't go outside much. I don't know if it was because she was shy or didn't like to climb stairs (she lived on the second floor of their house), but she had good luck with houseplants. She and my grandfather also had canaries(he raised them) and a talking parakeet. She was a wonderful cook; pierogis and other old country foods. They had 2 enormous cherry trees and I spent many days sitting in one of the trees enjoying the fruit. My mother, myself and 2 brothers lived with them for 5 years while my father was in the Navy. I look forward to seeing the photos of Andrew. Sorry, I don't have a scanner and can't email photos, but if you'd like, I can send you pictures. Regards, Cousin Lynn
