Surnames: Karban
I'm looking for any information on the Karban family in PA. My grandfather - John Nepemuk Karban - arrived in this country on 10/2/1903 at Baltimore, MD on a ship called The Main. The ship originated in Hamburg and arrived at Baltimore via New York. I found a docking date in New York of 9/30/1903. He and his wife - Rosa Kalmus Karban - went from Baltimore to Economy, PA. We believe that someone, a relative most likely, sponsored him. He told my Dad (John Knauss Karban) that he came from Bohemia, a village called St. Helene (or something close to that). He was a master safety engineer - possibly sheet metal specialist. He spent 9 years in the Austrian Army. We're in the process of trying to locate a ship's passenger list and Austrian military records but I did find that in the 1910 census, there were 3 Karbans in Beaver County, PA. Looking for any additional information or relatives.
