I just stumbled onto a posting from you from a few years ago. My grandfather was Heinrich (Henry) Karge, the brother of Wilhelm August Johann Heinrich Karge. From info. that I have from my cousin, Ronald Karge, Wilhelm and Henry were both from the marriage of William (Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Karge) and his 1st wife, Anna Maria Dorothea Dahling. Henry was the first child to be born in the U.S. There were three other sons born to William and 2nd wife, Wilhelmina F. Dumke, Adolf, Alfred and Herman. My father, Harland Kenneth Karge, was the youngest of the seven children of Henry and wife, Elizabeth Rachel Weber. I have additional info. from my cousin who visited Germany a few years ago to research the family. I can be reached at diverz28@cmaaccess.com Sincerely, Anita Paiz

I have found information on my g,g,g grandmother: Anna Sophia Daehling from brahlstorf DOB: Oct. 13, 1830 (parents: Caspar H. Daehling & Anna marie Jenckel), but I am not sure if her family was part of the Vellhan parish. I'd like to find this out and I am also trying to locate where her husband (my g,g,g grandfather) originated from. He was John Voss (probably Johann, I dont have a middle initial; DOB: 10/13/1811). They were married July 1852 and came to the U.S. August 1852.

I cannot say that I know anything specifically about Anna Maria Dorothea Dahling, but she possibly was related to my Dähling family from Brahlstorf in Vellahn parish very near to Hagenow. This family dates back to the earliest 1600s records for Vellahn, and the name shows up in various other parishes in the vicinity. My family emigrated in 1852 and 1854, settling in Goodhue County, Minnesota.

Don't know if you access this database now since your posting was was from last year. Thanks for the info, I have a daughter, 14, who has to do research from time to time and I never knew much about the Karge side except for Uncle Frank, Uncle Bob, and Aunt Mary. I have info on the Runyans that I think your father gave to my mom, let me know if you are interested in that.

If you are related to Henry Karge, who wuld have been in Sullivan Co., MO in about 1905+or-, please email me. I have a grand old photo of Henry Karge, taken when he was about age 22 (thus my estimate of his YOB above). I would like to get this photo back in the hands of his family where it belongs.

The 1920 census of Emereld (Faribault Co.) MN shows a Henry Karge, age 47, which fits the man in the photo. His wife was Rachel with children Alfred, Edward, Cora, John and Haviland. I do not know for sure this is the same man, but I suspect it is.

Please email me at margerice@prodigy.net, and if you think you are related, I could scan the photo to you.

Hello,
Yes, this is the Karge line that I have been following. This is the information that I have.
William Karge Sr. was born, probably Hagenow, Mecklenburg 12 Jan 1838. He married 1st in Germany, about 1868 to Anna Maria Dahling. I have no definate information on her. His second marriage was 13 April 1881 Faribault County Minnesota to Wilhelmina Dumke.
The son of the first marriage, Henry Karge born 19 Jan 1872 in Mecklenburg, and married 12 March 1896 (Faribault County Minn. vital records) to Rachel Weber. Rachel Weber was my great aunt on my mothers side. I know that this is sketchy information right now, but may be able to fill in with more information later. Contact me at my E-mail site Namsire@aol.com
Sincerely,
Pat Erisman
Karge

I have a bunch of Karge's in my database. They origanate from Prussia. My line goes back to Christoph Karge b. abt 1654 in Ober-Kretschmar, Schlesian, Preussen. and goes to my most recent ancestor Maria Rosina Karge who married a Johann Christian Gottlieb Bluemel 29 Oct 1827 in Pombsen, Schlesien, Preussen. From there all I have is the Bluemel line. Maria is one of 8 children and her sister Johanna Eleonora Karge first married Johann Christian Gottlieb Bluemel in 1823, but died in 1824. Maria Rosina then moved to the USA with some of her children where she died in 1881. She and Johann had 12 children.

I am related to him through my mother
not my father.I found his name in the social
security master death file. But what I found
strange was his first name. It was listed as
Edward Karge of Stockton, California. Not
Edwin as my grandmother and mother used to
call him. If you require more info on his
back ground you can send in for a copy of
his origonal application for his SSN. It is
very hard for me to acomplish that from my
present locale. I hope this was some help
to you. Good luck on you search.

I have no other knowledge of my Grandfathers
family.

Many thanks for response J.D. I take it you are living in Germany now? What about your Dad -- is he in California too? I also believe we have a cousin in or around New Orleans, LA. -- familiar? Again, thanks.

My grandfather was Edwin Karge. He told me that his father was from Poland. He also told he came to Califonia by way of N.Y.
I've also found out after living for the
past several years in Germany that the name
Karge {pronounced "KARGA"} only comes from
one part of the world, Eastern Germany.
He died four years ago. His wife lives in
Stockton California. Her name is Angela Karge.

I know this is a real "shot in the dark", but I am trying to find ANYONE in my family tree. Mary Karge was my grandmother on my fathers side (from Poland) - she married Matthew Cornelius Malecki (later changed to y while in the Army)- Also in Poland --Had one daughter Irene (deceased - Orlando Florida), and one son (my Dad) Francis Xavier Malecky born in Btooklyn NY 7/2/13 -resided in Orlando, Moved to New Jersey and died there in 1968. Anything would be appreciated. I've been told that we have a coat of arms and the fmily home in Poland is now a library...ring any bells? Many thanks anyway.
