I am currently researching my family history and hit a wall in my searching.
I am looking for information on a Sebastian Karl who arrived in Australia in 1852 on board the Reiherstieg, the departure point for this ship I believe was Hamburg.
Sebastian occupation was as a vine dresser and was part of the assisted migration of vine dressers from Germany to Australia.
Sebastian travelled with his family Ottlia age 33 (wife)
and John Charles age 1 (son).
This branch of the Karl's last name became Call in Australia most likely due to German accents and the english colonist at the time failling to understand and writing what they think they heard.
Ottlia's Last name might have been Wiesmoth
if you have any information that might hint at where to go next in my research please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks in advance for any help
