Dear Ema-

My mother had done research on our tree and recently gave her stuff to me to continue the work. What I'm seeing here as the earliest information I have about our KARLE line is as follows:

Edwin L. Karle
b. cir 1872 in Germany (unknown town, but oral history has it as Baden-Baden)
d. 15 jan 1931 in an auto accident in Florida

Apparently came to USA cir 1874 (at age 2) with parents (unknown names). Was listed in the New York City 1880 census (at age 8) as living at the New York Juvenile Asylum (an orphanage).

He married Ina Leone Diehl on unknown date (cir 1901-02 perhaps).

They had one child (that we are aware of) named Rynold Denton Karle b. 27 June 1903.

Rynold Denton was my father's father

I am looking for anything to connect me to Germany so that I can begin my search there. Do you have any records of and Karles coming to the US cir 1874?

Thank you very much for your response. You can e-mail me privately if you wish at jomalu@msn.com

Hello. I have very sketchy info about our Karle line. My father's grandfather was Edwin Karle, born cir. 1872 in Germany. He married Ina DIEHL in Michigan in 1918 and he died in 1931 in Florida in a car accident.

I remember my dad speaking of Baden-Baden as where his family was from, but nobody was able to fully investigate this line on our tree. Can anybody help?

Thanks!

Barbara Sabal
