Hello cousin,
How can we swap info? I've discovered much more since I wrote that message a couple years ago. Theodore and Nicolas were small children when they came to America with their parents, Peter and Catherine (Zimmer) Karls. Bernard was their first child born in America, followed by Benedict and Gertrude. Bernard and Benedict went to ND for a while. Bernard was in Douglas County, WI in the 1900 census and was among the founding families for a parish in Cudworth, Saskatchewan, Canada about 1907. They lived in Canada and moved west to BC where Bernard died in 1929, then they came back to the states to the Everett, Washington area about 1930. I have some info on the Weber connection too. I've also traced Peter back to a village in Rhineland that isn't on the map anymore. Peter's father is Hubert, from Aachen.
There is a Theodore Karls listed in the coroner's inquest index for Chicago, but from what you say, this must not be the Theodore in our family. There's also a Lawrence Karls that died in CA (have picture of him and his mother, who was a Weber. I'd like to fill in the gaps - let's sway info.
