"KARLSON, ROBERT EMIL, Ph.D.
Professor of English, George Mason University (retired 2005) died at his home in Falls Church, VA on Thursday, December 29, 2005. Born May 22, 1927, Dr. Karlson received a BA from the College of William & Mary; MA from Middlebury College, and Ph.D from George Washington University. He was revered by students, friends, and colleagues from all walks of life.
Beloved husband of 47 years to Jacqueline Anderson Karlson and loving father of Laurie Basalyga, Courtney Freeman, and Kristin Lamb. Also survived by a brother, William Karlson of Nevada, and five loving grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2005, 11 a.m., St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Annandale, VA. Contributions may be made to Amnesty International or Capital Hospice."
