hi jay, thanks for the info. If you'd like -you may email me directly : email@example.com
Throughout my research of the norwegian side of my family- the name kept changing from Carlsan,Carlson, and Carlsen. I contacted the Trinity church in NYC- and they were kind enough to send me a booklet explaining the difference between the names- and the origin. Although- on one of the early Ny census(I think 1890 or 1900)- the origin of Bernhard Carlsen(my gr. grandfather) -i think it's him.. the origin says "kingdom of Norway/Sweden.Later- I find out his wife's maiden name was noted on different affadavits as Nilson/Nelson... recorded by the mouths of their own family.I also found a "sampler" in my mother's affairs.. that has the name Anne Marie Helgesen .."13 Varden,June 21, 1881- Siersten School" So I am totally confused-- and their are no family members on that side of the family alive that I know of.. to ask questions..
Also - the way i came up with "Karlson"- is that a friend who has been helping me with my family tree- suggested... to use Soundex- just in case. Once people came to NY-names changed- people become younger/or older than they really were..(ha ha ha) if you know what I mean. So- jay- if you'd like to email me ...feel free.
