Just saw the message, 02.01.2010. Osa Worth Karns is my wife, Susan Kay Browning's, grandfather. Her mother was Gretchen Karns and was one of the eight children that he left and "disappered"around 1929. His wife, Nellie Williams, was committed to a mental institution for the rest of her life shortly after and the children were places in a children's home in Toledo, Iowa. This Kay just discoverd yesterday. All of the children were eventually placed with several different families near Pleasantville where their farm had been. All of the children managed to stay in touch with one another through their lives. All are now dead. We have Osa's picture (the SOB) hanging on our dining room wall! Nellie is buried just north of Pleasantville in Spurgeon Cemetary just down the road from where the family farm was located. House is still there and occupied by another family. Many relatives still live in the Pleasantville area. Most are Williams. Our email address is if you wish to contact us for added information. We live in Charlotte, NC now but lived in Des Moines until 1989. We still have 3 children living in that area. Would be nice to hear any information or stories or photos that you might have.
