I am looking for relatives of Solomon Karpel...
My surname is Kaplan but it seems that my great grandfather Solomon Kaplan (born abt 1855), who was married to Pessa Guinsberg (born 1857), was actually born Karpel and changed his name to Kaplan.
Solomon and Pessa had the following children: Sheina Jane, Harry, Solly, Louis, Anne-Leah, and Myer (Mick) = all with the surname of Kaplan of course.
I would be very interested to hear from any Karpels whose family originally came from Plumjan in Lithuania, and most of whom ended up in South Africa, so that we can try and trace a connection. Please reply to rose4@attglobal.net
