See, I think there has to be a family connection. From Lemkotour.com:
"The western-most part of the Lemko Region extends into Nowy Targ county, where there is an island of four Lemko villages: Czarna Woda/Chorna Voda, Biala Woda/Bila Voda, Szlachtowa/Shljachtova and Jaworki/Javirky."
I always thought our nationality was Ukrainian, but it turns out it was Rusyn or Lemko. This is all in the Carpathian mountains, now a part of Poland.
Lots of these families came in through Philadelphia. It's rather hard to research because the spelling was in the original cyrillic characters, so it gets changed to all sorts of things when they come to America. Plus, they tried to become more "Americanized", so they would change their Lemko name from Paraskevia to Pauline or Patricia.
I don't see any immediate connection, but I'll keep the names on file, in case I come across one. My email is patwoodruff (at) mac.com
