My name is Beatrice Holod and I am the daughter of Jean Holod. Born in France, I have lived in Britain for 26 years. My father is currently on holiday in Britain and we stumbled on your message purely by chance tonight! Dad tells me that Florian and his wife Helena were my family's great friends. Edward had gone to Scotland and went back to France with Annie for a couple of years, in Chaumont-en-Vexin (Oise). Edward and Annie became their friends too. My grand-mother and my father worked with Edward, Annie, Casimir, Jean, Marie and Helena at Adeline's farm in Chaumont-en-Vexin. Later on, Edward, Annie and their children went back to Scotland. They kept in touch with my family for a few years. Marie and Jean Chemardain joined Edward in Scotland in the 60s or 70s. My grand-mother was present when Casimir, aged 18, died electrocuted at work whilst filling a tractor tyre with air. My father remembers Florian becoming disabled and taking a very long time to walk and visit them.
Jean Ciozda, Casimir's brother, went to work to Les Mureaux (Yvelines), got married and settled there.
Would you know if he is still alive?
When I lived in Buckie (Scotland) briefly in the late 80s, my grand-mother gave me Edward's name and the name of a village but I was not very mobile in those days and without Internet access, I did not manage to find him. Unfortunately, my grand-parents are now both deceased. My grand-mother, Rosalie Holod died in 1993 and my grand-father, Pierre in the late 60s.
I hope that we have provided you with extra information. Dad has old photos of Helena, Casimir, Jean and Marie. If you are interested, I could scan them and send them to you. However, it would take quite a while.
Dad would like to be reminded to Marie and her husband and would love to have news about them.
